who elena/ OPEN what compelling herself some booze where merlotte's when 5/23, after sunset warnings tba?
Things had been better back home. After prom, Elena's world had gotten a little bit darker--if that had even been possible. Nearly incapacitated by Bonnie, Elena had felt a trickle of humanity when she saw Damon's face right before Stefan jabbed a vervain-laced needle into her without warning. Waking up without her ring, at the time, in a cell was hardly the icing on the cake. This so called mission to bring back her humanity never took into consideration what was honestly best for her. What did she have to go back to? Two men who wanted her to love them, discordant friendships, and an empty family tree--how was any of that worth it?
Granted the old Elena would deem those all good reasons to hang on to herself, she also knew that this was something she had accepted as the only alternative to her severe despair. Jeremy had been her humanity, Damon had only gotten her comfortable with accepting herself as being a little less than so. Not that she would admit that right now. The Salvatore brothers had nothing but her resentment right now, though Katherine had topped the list.
She had to get her back for snapping her neck, too, after all.
With those thoughts pushed nearly as far down as her own light, Elena managed to find some place that looked promising. Merlotte's place didn't look familiar to her, though she didn't expect it, but served alcohol. That meant people would be there and she hadn't quite recovered fully from being starved. Like that would bring her humanity back.
The place reminded her a bit of the Mystic Grill which soured her disposition, but she dealt with it and found a seat at the bar. Penniless, she compelled the stranger next to her to start supplying her with booze and waited for the sturdy tumbler of bourbon to come her way.
