Hera finished directing the attendants who were dressing her, examining herself in the polished silver with a smile of satisfaction. The gown was the perfect complement to her skin and hair color, a rich emerald with sapphires sewn in the bodice and threads the same color woven throughout. It boasted a wide and deep square neckline, and the lines cut into her waist perfectly. The neckline was a bit of a scandal, but she could handle that kind of impropriety. She had the assets to fill it out, why not show it? Her mask of peacock feathers would hide her identity in polite company, and a few admiring looks would not be unwelcome.
Sweeping out into the hall, her skirts rustling around her, Hera let herself walk at a leisurely pace. She was certainly not going to be one of the first to arrive at the party. When she could hear the voices of their guests and could hardly bear to be away from the fun, she made her entrance, pausing at the top of the stairs before making her way down elegantly amongst the revelers.
