"I missed you too," Lia whispered, closing her eyes as she spoke. More than he probably knew. She just hadn't wanted to admit it to herself over the last several years. But it wouldn't help to think about those six years at the moment. She had him now. Lia might have been confused and scared about so many things, but she felt comforted having Riley's warmth pressed up against her. There were mild stirrings of desire again, but Lia ignored them. After what had just happened, it wouldn't do to start anything now. But her mind wandered to Gin, and that article of clothing she had promised Lia. The one that would 'rock her world' or however Gin had described it. Maybe she would get it, put it on and blow Riley's mind to make it up to him. Pressing another soft kiss to the side of his neck, Lia relaxed and tried to ignore the fact that she could hear his heart beating loudly in her ears. "G'night, love."
Riley closed his eyes, feeling as though it would take hours for him to settle completely down and yet, at the same time, he might drift off immediately. His mind worked but his body wanted to sleep, replenish itself from the tension of varying degrees from the past couple days. And Lia was here, close, and he could play gently with her hair as he'd done all those years ago. He could almost imagine that it was all those years ago. He gave her a gentle squeeze in response to her kiss and smiled. "Good night, Mrs. Pollard," he whispered.
