It was easy enough to see that Albel wasn't just tired in terms of physical exhaustion, but was getting tired of the language lessons. Lavi couldn't blame him - he'd seen how taxing that sort of thing could be for ordinary people.
"Yes," he agreed, nodding. Though Albel was making reasonable progress in English, Lavi now spoke in Elicoorian for everything except mumbling to himself. "Hey, Albel? Who is here? Outside there?" he gestured at the doorway. Someone had taught Albel 'not', and there was no reason to think it hadn't been here. "You and me? Who?" Damn it, they hadn't covered 'else' or 'other' or abstract words like that, which made the question harder to ask. At least 'who', 'what' and 'where' had been easy enough to get. 'Why', 'how' and 'when' were going to have to wait a bit.
