About: | The ArchiveMultiverse type RPG. (age 18 and over please)Premise: You’re dead. You died in your canon, or after. It might have been a natural death, or otherwise, but you’re dead. You probably expected to wake up in Heaven, or Hell, or maybe you thought you’d cease to exist. Instead, you woke up here. Here is The Archive, and The Archive is a world, or more specifically a dimension, which exists outside of, or maybe between, all other dimensions. There’s evidence that a civilization once existed here, a highly advanced one. But the world appears to be empty of native, intelligent life. There are animals, some ‘normal’, some otherwise, but some seem to have come from very different worlds or dimensions. There are other creatures, more dangerous, but they are not obvious at first. What is obvious is that you are in what is left of a city abandoned so long ago that anything organic has long since turned to dust. The technology of whoever built this place, however, is marvelous. Running water still functions in most of the empty abodes. Some source provides power for lighting, some of which turns itself on and off at seemingly random intervals. In other places there are switches but they must be found, recognized. There are also machines of such a high level of technology that they might as well be magic. Some can produce food and drink. Others can, sometimes, produce small objects. The trick is figuring out what they are and how to make them work. You don’t know anything about this place, what it is, or why you are here. You only know that you died. You are quite certain of that one fact. Yet here you are. There is no going back. The meta-plot of this RPG is that a vastly ancient and unbelievable advanced race created the very dimension itself. It had a purpose and a function but the race that created it have so long since vanished that this purpose can only be guessed rather than conjectured. It was dormant for eons. Something, however, has recently woken it, and awakened some of its more arcane functions. It is as a result of these functions that occasionally, people who die in other dimensions wake up here. The transference is one way only. Characters will never return to their home worlds, indeed, doing so would potentially threaten the existence of that world. They are stuck in The Archive. The Archive has any number of mysteries and secrets which new inhabitants may discover in their search to learn where they are and what has happened to bring them here. In some places, it might be possible to live a reasonably ‘normal’ life, but the curious or adventurous will discover that much of the world is dangerous, intensely so. Braving the dangers may be the only way to discover answers, but there is no guarantee such answers even exist. The Archive welcomes any character from any fictional source (books, TV, movies, games, etc.) who meets the single criteria: they died. Either they died in their own established canon, or they died after it, in some manner that is harmonious to that canon. Immortals will not be eligible unless they can and do die. Example: Bilbo, Frodo and Sam will not be eligible since in their canon they went to Elvenhome where there is no death by aging, nor much likelihood of misadventure. If you have an idea of a character you would like to play who is not clearly dead in canon, converse with the Archivist (moderator of the game) to see what can be worked out. Once a player requests a character and is accepted, that character is obviously no longer available for others to request. For the time being we’ll start with one character per player with the probably likelihood that players may be able to run up to three characters. That is an arbitrary number and like the rules here, subject to change at the discretion of the Archivist. Character possibilities (examples): Sirius Black (HP), Severus Snape (HP), Zack (FFVII), Aerith (FFVII), Treize Khushrenada (Gundam Wing), Boromir (LotR), Captain America (Marvel Comics), Sai (Hikaru no Go)...
