Albel had awakened after only a few hours to find the door closed and the food he'd squirrelled away gone along with the tray. He managed to work the pyramid-thing again, and headed out with a full stomach to explore the city, stick in hand.
This time he didn't waste much time with going into buildings. He ducked his head into any that looked different, but he was far more interested in any signs of life than the weird, uncooperative technology.
He caught sight of a black bird flying high in the sky and frowned up at it briefly. This was the first thing he'd seen outside of the park that was alive, but maybe it had just escaped. Maybe the birds could leave, even if the cat-like thing hadn't been able to.
