Kevin followed Mandy inside feeling a little flushed. He hadn't really meant to draw attention to her outfit, he'd just been too surprised to stop himself. "I feel under-dressed now," he said, trying to laugh off the slight discomfort he felt. "Not that I've got anything," he gestured in her general direction then decided to change track "anything else to wear." He reminded himself that she had dressed up for New Year, not for him. Of course. He distracted himself by admiring her Christmas tree.
"You didn't have to cook for me," he said, a little embarrassed. He hadn't thought about food or he'd have offered to bring something. "But I won't say no to presents and a drink. I just hope you like yours..." He always felt a little apprehensive about presents. For years, he'd always got his brothers completely the wrong thing and had to watch their disappointment every Christmas and birthday. Mandy wasn't as alien to Kevin's interests as his brothers, but he still wasn't sure she'd like what he'd bought her.
