Who: Faith Lehane & Reyna Ramirez-Arellano
What: sparring and goofing off in the snow.
When: Last week, thursday
Where: outdoors
Rating/Status: PG13 for Faith and Reyna, sitting in a snowbank, k-i-s-s-i-n-g
Reyna hadn't realized how much she had needed to get away, to get outside until the housing structures were nearly out of sight. Even though she could see her breath and her Puerto Rican blood shivered beneath the hat and coat she wore, it was good to be under the sky. She had the satchel from Phoebe slung over her shoulder, in case something happened or the got stuck - never hurt to have a gift from an Amazon with her.
The butterflies were still there, in her stomach, increasing whenever Faith laughed. She wasn't sure what to make of it, but at least Faith wasn't a demi-god, so Reyna was safe from Aphrodite's prophecy. At the moment, she was listening to Faith go on about one of her slayer stories, grinning at the older brunette. Faith laughed and Reyna shoved her towards a snowpile.
"If it wasn't for the fact that I've had my own adventures, I wouldn't believe half your stories.."
It was freezing, even for a Bostonian, so she could only imagine how Reyna was doing. But they wouldn’t be out here all that long and they’d get back and feed her hot drinks till she warmed up. Also the whole ass kicking thing. That’d help.
Faith had told the alligator story. Mostly because wrestling an alligator at the behest of a crazy vampire was unusual even for a Slayer. And it had weirded out the Scoobies but Reyna seemed to approve of it. Even if it was pretty far reaching as stories went. But any sassy comment she was about to make was lost when she was unceremoniously dumped in a pile of snow. Without any warning. Because the Roman was clearly a brat.
“Oh you didn’t just…” Faith exclaimed leaping back to her feet in one move. “This how it’s gonna be huh?” she added, ducking down momentarily to lift a snowball which she proceeded to throw at Reyna.
Reyna certainly didn't squeal, but some strange noise might have emerged from her as she tried to avoid the snowball. "Come on Bellona, these count as weapons, right?" Reyna muttered under her breath. Snowballs were not part of her forte, between Circe's Island, Puerto Rico, and California, she hadn't really had the chance to develop that skill. She stumbled in the snow and packed at handful, throwing it at Faith.
"Come on, aren't you from Baw-ston," Reyna teased, mocking the New England accent. "Don't you get multiple feet of snow every year?"
The mocked accent amused Faith way more than it probably should have, it almost distracted her but at the last second she managed to duck the incoming snowball before grabbing another handful and flinging it Reyna’s way before even really fashioning it into any shape. Mostly it was just a handful of snow
“Oh really, we’re doing accents, do I need to get my West Side Story on? Maybe we shouldn’t be fighting so much as dancing” she suggested, doing some approximation of a twirl in the snow. As much as one could anyway. But Reyna was right. They absolutely did get snow in Boston. Pretty much every year. So she was much more comfortable with it. And using that was definitely a plan. Play to your advantages. One of the first bits of advice Diana had ever given her. And yes, this was a game, sparring. But Faith absolutely liked to win. And Reyna would have been insulted if she had held back. Faith went for another handful of snow but didn’t throw it. She had way more of a plan for this one.
“Come on then? Or are you just gonna stand there freezing your ass off”
"I don't dance," Reyna said, punctuating the words with an eye roll as memories of her childhood flooded to the surface. Memories of her father. Which would only distract her. She pushed them down and focused on Faith. If she could just take her down…
Reyna threw another makeshift snowball at faith before lunging to tackle the older girl.
Faith wasn’t sure what she’d said, or if she’d hit a nerve given the eyeroll. But in that hesitation, she was just a second too slow in reacting and Reyna capitalized on it, tumbling them both into the snow just as she’d earlier promised to do. Faith cursed and raised her hands to try and turn them around so she was at least on top.
She couldn’t give up that easily. Couldn’t have that.
“So tell me, how does it work in Rome? Is this considered a win or does the fact that I can turn this around suggest we continue.”
At that, the Slayer moved quickly, grabbing Reyna’s hands to try and reverse their positions in the snow.
Reyna tightened her grip on the Slayer. "Depends. I'd get points for pinning you, but a bout doesn't end until one person gives up. Or you can't keep fighting. Sometimes they're just timed events," she explained, shifting to try and keep Faith pinned under her. But her knee slipped in the snow and the next thing she knew she was on her back with Faith on top of her. The butterflies were back, fluttering in her stomach and she wiggled, trying to see how best to dislodge Faith.
Faith looked down more than a little amused that she’d managed to turn this around, she was about to declare the match won and over when Reyna slipped, landing in such a way that Faith slammed into her. She was slightly winded but caught her breath quickly enough, meeting the other’s gaze.
“Well, that’s one way to win” she teased, leaning down slightly more, a grin crossing her lips as she placed a soft kiss against Reyna’s own.
“How many points now?” she asked.
The kiss took Reyna by surprise and she licked her lips, trying to find her voice and her breath. She could feel the cold of the snow through her clothes, but didn't care. Instead, she just watched Faith. "Do that again," Reyna whispered, not sure what she was doing or feeling, but she wanted more, leaning her head up to brush her lips against the other girl's.
Faith laughed as Reya just asked her to do that again. She seemed to be receptive which Faith wasn’t entirely shocked by. She’d seen signals. Little things that had made her curious. And when she’d kissed her…
“I mean I could do that again” she said teasingly as Reyna brushed another kiss against her lips.
“Or y’know, there’s this.”
At that, the Slayer pulled Reyna toward her and intensified the kiss. Faith definitely knew how to seduce, she always had. And it was always so much easier when the other party was as obviously into her as the Roman was.
“Any better?”
One of Reyna's hand went around Faith's neck to pull her close and, perhaps, hold on. When the kiss ended, Reyna was breathless, a goofy grin on her face as she met Faith's eyes. "Much. I think I need to admit defeat.." she said softly, hand reaching out trace Faith's face, brushing a snowflake off Faith's cheek. "Victory is yours this time, slayer," Reyna said, before kissing her again, eagerness making up for experience.
