I was angry when I first arrived on Earth. I was grieving. This isn't an excuse. I was traveling with my family and my girlfriend when we were attacked by Dr. Midas, and I was the only survivor. I escaped, but I couldn't accept what had happened. I blamed everyone for not coming to our aide. S.H.I.E.L.D., the Avengers. So I declared war. After I was imprisoned for my actions, I promised myself that I would turn Earth into part of my empire. I was brainwashed. I was fooled into becoming an Avenger when it was a team full of criminals, because I was one too. I was alone, angry and stupid. Nothing I have done to make up for all of my mistakes has gone the way I planned.
