Hi everyone, I'm Dani. I think I only know one of you, so nice to meet the rest of you. :) I'm usually on the Eastern timezone, but I'm in Los Angeles until Monday, hence why I have no icons for the time being. Monday will bring me back to my normally scheduled broadcast. I was hesitant to post this before I had my journal up and running and then thought, well, if anyone wants something established, at least it's there by Monday so I can jump right in.

This is -- or will be, at any rate -- Josh Hartnett. I posted his profile here, if you want to have a read over it. Basically he's working for the Chicago PD. He isn't crooked; he's just more understanding of these things and doesn't bother any of the other patrons or staff unless he needs some information here and there. If anyone wants any history with him or plotting, let me know. I'm down with whatever.

My email address is ardentis[at]gmail[dot]com, AIM name is when you let go, so hit me up whenever. I'm not around much for the next few days, but, like I said, I'll be back in full force on Monday. Looking forward to joining you all. :D

Not to spam the comm, or anything, but I feel like I should post a warning about Bobby. He's likely to show up in an open thread, sling an arm around your pup, say something lewd, and then bugger off, only to show up in a different part of the thread. He has the attention span of a gnat.

This is understandably annoying. So feel free to punch him. Really. If your charrie would go round decking people for pissing them off, just give him a right hook. I have no problems with him being punched. I may have issues with your pup breaking his arm or capping his ass, so maybe run that past me first, but I give you guys full permission to slap, kick or punch him.

Of course, luring him away with a pretty face or some blow also works in case you don't want to get your pups' hands messy. And if you desperately want something about your charrie or his/her boss/best friend/lover in Bobby's column, please ping me and let me know so I can include things for your personal plot.

Hello my lovelies! It's Lizzie, who I think some know me through LJ and some don't so hi to all and you can blame Donna and Jo for igniting my need to play so hurt them if you don't like me. I bring with me two charries because one muscled into my brain while I was in the bath and since then he hasn't been able to shut up.

So we have Paul over at [info]bettingman, who's British loins were sent a-flaming when he heard jazz for the first time and who now, to the despair of his family and the nice girl (TM) that always thought he'd settle down, is over in Chicago playing the double bass at The Fury (think of the fingers nghfuh) and attempting to master the slang. This doesn't always work out and he ends up saying 'what ho, capital idea!' like a more intelligent Bertie Wooster. Still somewhat of a wide-eyed innocent, he's slowly becoming immersed in American culture and this whole bozze, broads and bullets thing - and is slightly agog at people like John. Ah yes, an innocent. Watch him get corrupted day by day. Feel free to join in :)

And then there's this one, [info]bobbyhushhush, hopped up on cocaine, booze, anything he can take really, while he plays his alimony money away and somehow sweet-talks his way into both skirts and trousers.  Bobby is the gossip columnist for the paper, and while he sometimes gets punched for it, somehow he is still liked by the majority, seeing as he's a generous raconteur and always ready with a more serious tip or two to the right people. He's full of energy and won't stop talking, humming, typing, writing, singing or kissing people innappropriately. He's like a party in a person, but sometimes his excess gets him into bad situations and a lot of trouble - not just with his own body.

Hit me up on AIM on alittlebriton and I'm on Skype as well :) and I'm always happy to plot/thread/say hi/squee over hot people.

Meet Johnny Messner, aka Johnny Ink named for the tattoos which cover his body.

Quiet to taciturn, softly spoken, extremely patient, even with the occasional drunken fools who believe him to be meek and mild. It’s mistake they only tend to make once. 95% of the time he’ll dodge trouble rather than cause it, because he’s seen enough violence in his work, but the other 5% - well ducking and running is a good idea. Generally he’s slow to anger and will direct rage inwards rather than out. Reliable, honest, loyal to those he calls friends, he’s an excellent shot and skilled with a knife too.

He's a bootlegger and freelance enforcer. He keeps The Fury supplied with alcohol and also has contacts with People Who Count. His friends and acquaintances put his occasional disappearances down to a little freelancing on the side for the Mob but good luck with getting him to confirm for who, how or why. Or if that's really what he's doing when he disappears. Johnny doesn't believe in confirming or denying anything.

The bootlegging is mainly what he does for The Fury. He might just do a little enforcing too - if Mr Gill asked him to.

Meet Sean - he's flirtatious, charming and promiscuous, he’s interested in people and has an eye for good looking women and men.

An adventurer and risk taker he has a very low boredom threshold. He enjoys traveling, sailing, drinking, gambling and polo. He keeps a string of polo ponies at Oak Brook Polo Club, which he co-founded in 1922.

Coming from a family who's wealth puts Croesus to shame (and aside from his interest in the arts and philanthropic activities) he’s mainly concerned with having fun whilst working his way through the family fortune.

This is open to all staff - and when I say all staff, I mean it. No matter how many other people have responded, feel free to join in to the thread at any time.

Maybe you were going to join John for that rehearsal. Maybe one of your own. Maybe there was a delivery to check on, or something to set up.

Who is the mysterious guy? Did you know him? His name? What he did? Did he have family?

It's all over to you guys. Roll with it ;-)

Everyone say hi to Summer!

She's a dancer at the Grand Opera, first brought to The Fury by a gentleman friend. He's gone back to his wife (don't they all?) but she got custody of the bar.

She's been a customer for just over a year, regularly dropping by after Saturday performances. She's there for the atmosphere, the music, and the drinks. In no particular order.

She doesn't dance in the club. It would exercise all the wrong muscles, and she's never going to do anything to jeopardize her career.

I'm Jenn and I'd like to introduce my boy, Thomas Jane.

He's orginally from Baltimore, but he relocated to Chicago several years ago. Worked for the Chicago PD until about a year and a half ago and then went into business for himself as a PI. He's a bit of a workaholic so when he comes to The Fury, he's there for leads on a case. All business for that boy. Of course, he's not actually been inside The Fury before so he may find more than he bargained for.

Hey everyone!

This is Fan', who's insane for doing this and completely blames Vae. Yes'm. And this gorgeous lady here is Tricia. Helfer. Please don't call her Trish (unless you've slept with her).

Tricia's a big time reporter who started her career by using a male pseudonym, but is now out and proud to be a successful woman reporter thank you. She loves motorbikes, cats, dancing and cards. She's very easy going and used to come to the Fury much more frequently a couple years back, before her career whisked her away for a while. She might love to dress like a guy on the odd occasion, but it's not the ladies' company she fancies most (although she might be tempted once in a while).

Right now she's back in Chicago and looking to go check out what things at the Fury are like by now.

Hit me up if you want to set up any backstory! She used to be a regular at the Fury, so your characters might or might not know her from back then.

I'm so excited about this universe, seriously.

Hey, everyone! Looks like we've made a good start on the game! Three women and seven guys so far. Fantastic!

We're going to start advertising on the comms for new players, so now's the time to tell us...

Who do we want to come and play? Specific celebs? Particular roles? Are there characters you'd like to see, but don't have anyone specific in mind to play them? Let us know in the comments and we'll get them added to the Wanted list before posting.

This is Kandyse. Her friends call her Candy. She is crazy for the blues and jazz. She first came to The Fury as a friend of a musician.

Candy really is there for the music, though her position as a reporter quickly brought her to the attention of management. She managed to convey that she has no interest in the club beyond the entertainment it provides both on stage and off.

She's been coming in long enough to have friends on staff who ensure she is not bothered by unwelcome attention. She's not looking for a man or flowers and romance. Sometimes though a girl gets lonely, and when that happens Candy can be seen holding hands and exchanging charged looks with other women. What happens beyond that, no one's saying.

Hello, all! I'm Erin, and I'd like you to meet James, though he usually just goes by Jimmy.

Jimmy plays piano with the band at the Fury. He's a quiet man, though he has a wonderful sense of humor once you get to know him. His main interests in life are playing jazz and poker, not necessarily in that order. He tends to lose his shirt every Sunday night in the regular game, but that doesn't slow him down much. He's looking for true love, but at this point isn't too hopeful that he'll find the man of his dreams.

Yes, man. Jimmy isn't really interested in girls, though he gets along with pretty much everyone he meets. Jimmy's a nice guy.

He was a child prodigy on the piano, playing with several orchestras in his teens, but gave it all up the day he walked into a club and heard jazz for the first time. Unfortunately, he also discovered poker on the same night; he ended up owing quite a chunk of change, but before they could off him, Scott offered him a job at his club to work off the debt. So now he's the house piano player at the Fury.

This is Becky, back with character 2.

This is Reese. She's a widow, a transplant from Tennessee and has been around The Fury for about the past four years. Her real job is as a cardsharp, and she's a good one, but she doesn't (won't) play for money inside the club. When she's here, she's off duty and she's more worried about making friends than money.

She's a tiny little thing with a (mostly) sweet disposition, core of steel and southern drawl. She's really pretty easy to get along with most of the time - it doesn't pay to make enemies when you're 5'2" - but she's got favors out and she's not above calling them in if she needs to.

As always, if anyone would like connections or history, please let me know?

Seems I'm late to the party. Not a good thing when you're the barkeep.

This is Nathan, btw. He's a pretty laid back, friendly kind of guy. Likes to chat with the staff and clients, set newcomers at ease, generally try to keep any situation from escalating out of control. Not that he's under any illusions as to what kind of place The Fury is, or who's in charge, but the fewer problems there are, the less chance there is of the cops forgetting who's buttering their bread. Right?

He's also foot loose and fancy free in the romance department. He tends to gravitate toward women, but if the right guy comes along? He won't say no.

Oh, yeah. He likes shiny new gadgets.

Hi, I'm Mandie and this is Jensen.

Jensen works for the top bosses, and he cleans up any... problems they're having. Usually with a gun. Or a knife. Actually- whatever weapon happens to be handy works for him just fine.

He comes to The Fury to relax, but he's never 'off duty' either. So be careful what you say to him if you're not loyal to the management. He doesn't take orders from anyone here, he answers only to the boss, so it can be an uneasy relationship with any others who would like to be able to control him.

On the whole though, he comes to The Fury to drink and relax, not get involved with internal politics. He's usually seen with a lady on his arm, but it's whispered that he likes his men on the side- but no one has been stupid enough to mention anything like that in his presence.

In fact, unless you know him by his reputation- or his nickname "The Cowboy," you would never know what he did for a day job, he's too polite and pretty to be a stone cold killer. But don't call him either to his face, or else you'll find out just how well a pretty cowboy can kill.

Mecca jumps into things - I just jump onto the bandwagon.

This is Scott, and he is The Fury's Manager. He doesn't live at the club, but he is almost always there - first there, last gone. He can be friendly, even charming, and chats with the customers and employees quite casually. He can also be one scary mother-fucker, and gets business taken care of.

He's got a Thing going on with John, but it's not exclusive. Scott doesn't pick people up a lot -there's no new man or woman every night - but it does definitely happen. He is bi, but he leans heavily toward men. His female lovers are fewer and further between, and he has a very definite type of woman. He has a lot more flexibility with men.

If anyone has specific ideas for history, of whatever sort, please let me know. Obviously he knows who the employees are, but if there are things not readily apparent in profiles about how you think they'd interact, or --whatever-- let me know that too?

Okay hi! I always have to jump into things with both feet. I'm Mecca!

This is Brendon. Brendon's a performer- Actually Brendon's a showman. He sings, he dances, he tells jokes, he dresses up, and be careful or you might get him in drag. He's very friendly and tacile- if you don't tell him no, he's lean casually against whomever and just. Watch out that he doesn't try to hold your hand. Regardless of gender. He seems very sweet and charming and idealistic. Until you hear his show you'd be sure he has no idea what sex is or that lies are things people tell. Once he's on stage though he can be ribald.

[info]true_blue is Pete. Pete is. A flirt, a mediocre card player, a lackluster law student, a decent poet, and quietly, sneakily desperate for approval. He's with a different girl every week to month and completely and totally convinced he's in love with her each time. He writes odes to each one and his heart breaks every time he gets dumped on his ass. Usually for being an asshole. He loves people and he loves the Fury. He has a big mouth and he's gotten punched in it more than once.

Kicking things off here - hi! I'm Vae. And this is John. He'll flirt with anything, but he's got a solid core of self-preservation and an almost fanatical devotion to the management.

And he's very, very gay. Sorry, ladies.

Hope you all enjoy playing here.
