Ali
The school wasn’t very hard to find. There were numerous signs posted once she got within about thirty miles, and she had the distinct feeling that the school was just about the only thing that the area had going for it. She’d pulled into the lot outside of the administration building, and within an hour she was set up with her room and a basic welcome packet. She’d even run into one of the professors she’d been sending emails to, and he’d been kind enough to give her a day’s extension on one of her assignments so she could move in without having to worry about writing a ten page paper the same day. How thoughtful.

She followed the signs to the student lot, stopping to watch a group of what looked like middle schoolers bounce across the road in their matching uniforms. That was one of the downsides of her decision - she was right back in a uniform again. She’d thought that she’d left that behind in Chicago, but there she was, trading in the option to go to school in her pajamas for another school uniform. Once the kids passed, she continued on until she reached the lot she’d been directed to. There were a few open spots, and she pulled into one, glancing around for any sign that the spots were assigned... not that it mattered. She could play new kid for a little while and get away with parking in other peoples’ spots. It was one of the perks. She slid out of the car and closed the door, heading around to grab her bag and spotting a blonde girl coming out of a nearby car.

“Hey,” she nodded, raising a hand in greeting. “Any idea where Castle Hall is?”

"Bowie is also the most versatile. Good choice." It didn't surprise her in the least that Ali was a Bowie fan. Not considering what she'd seen and heard of her.

"Good luck. I've spent time all over the country... still haven't found that perfect place. Everyone's got their own little pain in the ass weather quirks." That had been one of the good things about her time hopping around. She'd been able to leave areas before their weather got really shitty.

"Luck," she nodded. "It's... probability control or something, but I don't really control it. It just happens."

"Hells yes he is," she said with a broad grin. And, yeah, her Bowiesession was pretty common knowledge. Even if Dom hadn't seen or read any of her interviews, it wasn't difficult to figure out. It was still fun to talk like a normal person, though. Sometimes.

Ali frowned. "Yeah. I got that impression when I was touring although I always blamed it on exhaustion and being dehydrated all the time rather than the actual weather wherever I was. Maybe it's out there, though. Like Shangri-La."

"Luck, huh? Well. I know who I'm taking to Vegas." Then she shook her head. "Only not really because that would be unethical.":

"Nope, it was the weather." There had been places that weren't too bad, but Dom had yet to find a place that was actually great. Maybe it was out there. If it was, she was sure she'd find it in time.

"Unethical," she agreed, smile spreading. "But fun." She'd had Vegas plans with one of the guys she'd known during her wandering. He'd had similar powers, and as much fun as it would have been, it was probably best that they hadn't ever actually gone to Vegas. For Vegas' sake. "How about you?"

As much as Ali had wanted to be a star, she had always never been able to deny the simple fact that she was also sort of a homebody. Back when she lived with her dad and grandmother, she had spent most of her time studying or writing her own music. Very little time had been spent running around with friends.

"I'm tempted. I'm just not sure the Cadet program would look at the whole thing in a kindly light, you know? Otherwise we'd be headed back to the cars by now." Yeah, mostly kidding.

Then she shook her head. "To put it simply, my body takes sound and turns it into light, which I can manipulate in various ways as both soft and hard light. I'm sure there's a lot of technical terms for it all. It allowed me to do my own light shows at my gigs. Saves some money."

"Probably not," she agreed, doing her best to keep herself from deciding right then and there that Ali Blaire was even more boring than her music suggested. "You let me know if you change your mind."

"Huh." Dom nodded. "Yeah, sounds like it would." She hadn't actually ever been to one of Ali's concerts, but she vaguely recalled hearing something about light shows. Or possibly her mind was just trying to give her something to agree with.

"So, how big is this place anyway? The chick at the administration office made it sound like I'd need a compass to find my way to breakfast every morning."

Ali supposed that she could be boring. The clubbing trips and the impromptu vacations with Anna were different. Those weren't as risky as running out to Vegas to test her luck on whether or not she was going to do something to risk her place in the world. Even when they were out and about, she and Anna were pretty much following the rules. At least in the public eye.

"I will. So. How old are you? We arrange clubbing trips sometimes. I have friends in the biz who can get us a whole bar for a night. We invite the 18 and ups. "

Ali laughed as they made their way to the hall. "Nothing like that. It's not like we have our own zip code or anything. Well. I don't think we do. It's big, but I'm sure you'll have it all mapped out in no time. Once we drop your stuff, I can give you the grand tour. Or later. Or not at all if you prefer to explore on your own."

"Nineteen," she nodded. Ali had friends in the biz. Wasn't that fancy. "I've never actually been carded, though, so I guess I can pass for older if I have to. But that sounds like fun."

"Tour sounds good. I'd hate to take up all of your time, though. You probably have better things to do." She wasn't sure what, exactly. But there had to be something. "I should be fine if you just sort of point in the general direction of things."

"They can be fun. I'll make sure to let you know when I plan the next one." Ali frowned. "Which should be soon now that I think about it. It's been a while since we had one."

She nodded to the building looming up ahead. "That's Castle. Home sweet home. You should be on the first floor. I'm on the second, 214, so feel free to come up if you need anything."

"I can always train, huh? We don't have anything set for today so I can stick around for the tour if you want." Although Ali knew that tours were normally lame and that the person who was being shown around usually just wanted them to end. "I'll draw you a quick reference guide and let you loose."
