Kitty, Bobby, and Sam
Forward dated to Sunday, late afternoon. Nishi Ginza Department Store, Tokyo, Japan.

For both the results of the shopping spree and for larger-than-life Sam Guthrie, Shinobi had rented the largest car available that wasn't a pick up and had gotten his mother's driver to chauffeur them around. After dropping them off at Sanrio World, Shin had gone on to buy some snacks, food, and manga, shipping some of it back to America and taking the rest of it home to his family's large apartment. Sebastian Shaw did not often come to Japan and when he did he usually stayed in the best hotel possible, so the apartment was more the territory of Shin and his mother, who used it at length at least three times a year. It was a welcome calm after the storm of The Three.

His business concluded early, he decided to return to the mall early to watch the tail end of the shopping, even if it meant submersing himself in Hello Kitty for half an hour or more. Watching The Three would be more than entertaining, he was sure.

The translator he'd hired was an old friend of his mother's, Hiro-san, who'd been intrigued by his proposition and had happily taken the large payment in exchange for trying to keep up with a teenage girl with money to burn and bffs-turned-butlers to boss around.

Walking past the large Hello Kitty on top of a white globe, he bowed to the first store personnel he found with a polite 'konnichiwa, hajimemashite' and looked around for the flurry he had come to expect from Pryde-san.

*konnichiwa, hajimemashite - hello, pleased to meet you

Japan was awesome. Kitty had yet to discover a mythical used panty machine, but she was sure that it was only a matter of time, and there were plenty of things that were much cooler and more interesting. When they'd stepped into the Sanrio store, she had immediately become overwhelmed by the sheer amount of Hello Kitty crap that existed. She hadn't really been all about the Hello Kitty world for a while, and it definitely seemed like they had upped the quantity and variety of items available since her last big foray into it. Of course, it probably also helped that they were actually in Japan.

"I feel like we don't have enough crap," she observed, grabbing another plushie and tossing it in Bobby's direction. She'd decided on a skateboard and a couple of flash drives for herself and then had turned to gift shopping, which was always a lot more fun. Picking up a stuffed rabbit wearing a red hat, she held it up to Sam. "This one's name is Melody."

Bobby was fairly sure an ice shopping cart would be unwelcome in the store, so he'd taken to using ice rings instead. Smaller, they were easier to keep from melting, and looped about his middle, holding bags by his sides, and across his rear, which meant he had a swaying 'skirt' of shopping bags that hindered a lot of his personal space while trying to shimmy between crowded aisles. The ice seals over them however, both kept what they'd bought in, as well as things they hadn't out.

He shifted to catch the plushie, arm out so it could land in the basket hanging from his elbow. Then smiled at a small group of girls pointing at the bags by his hips. "How about we just box up the whole store?" he replied, turning to Kitty. "I'm sure Shin'd just love to pack the jet up with about a ton of brightly colored knick knacks."

Sam wondered if his eyes were actually crossing from the overload of cute or if it just felt that way. He'd managed to find a few small things he could actually afford to take back for the littles, but mostly he'd been trailing around behind Kitty and Bobby, ready to do his duty as pack mule. Surprisingly, Bobby had mostly taken over that job with his handy little bag holders, which left Sam just looming along in their wake, trying to ignore the inordinate amount of attention he seemed to attract just by existing.

"Melody, huh?" he cocked his head and wandered over to the display, sorting through until he found one of the smaller ones. He couldn't believe what some of this stuff cost.

"We box up the whole store that means we have to actually find somethin' t'do with it all once we get home," he pointed out to Bobby.

The Three were not hard to find; Shinobi just followed the trail of girls squealing over cellphone pictures of a rather bewildered looking Sam. Finding them, he laughed. "Interesting look, Bobby-kun."

And he held up a ringed six-pack of Coke with one missing (he'd had it in the car coming over). Not that they needed more sugar, but... being in Japan always brought out the gentleman in Shin. One for each of them, plus Hiro-san, who was looking as bewildered as Sam in those photos.

"Are all teenagers in America so energetic?" he asked Shinobi in Japanese.

"Depends on how much money you give them," he replied. "You can go if you want, I can take it from here."

Hiro-san bowed. "Thank you, Shin-kun. My wife will never believe this."

Bowing back, Shinobi chuckled. "Take a photo then. Everyone else is."

When Hiro-san had left, Shin turned back to The Three and spoke in English. "So what has been bought so far?" Looking at the dearth of characters, he murmured, "And who are all these creatures?"

"And I'd probably end up having to keep all of that Hello Kitty stuff in my room," she nodded, agreeing with Sam's point. "And that... that's just too much." There was definitely such a thing as too much Hello Kitty, and she was already pushing it with the few things she'd decided to get for herself.

"Shin!" Kitty grinned as she spotted Shin approaching, giving him a wave followed by a thumbs-up as he held up the Coke. He turned to talk to Hiro, and she went back to poking through the display, turning again to say goodbye and thank Hiro in Japanese as he excused himself.

"I don't even know," she admitted to Shiro. "Some of them are familiar, some of them I've never even seen before. But at least they're all still cute."
