Piotr - Monday afternoon/evening
Anna turned onto her mother's street, doing a quick search for street parking. Not surprisingly, there was none. It was still relatively early on a Monday, and there were as many cars parked in the area because their owners were at work as there were people who lived nearby. She and Piotr had skipped out on their regular Monday gym time to head into the city so she could pick up something she'd ordered before her mother had a chance to decide she needed to open it.

"I'm pretty sure my mom's out of town." She pulled up to the garage door and glanced over at Piotr. "Not that it would be bad if she wasn't, but just as a general note." Shrugging, she pulled into the garage and into an empty space.

	Yeah. That would be awkward. "Yeah, not the greatest of dinner conversations," he said. Of course, he could easily just give a brief explanation of her powers and say they'd touched during training or something, but that didn't actually occur to him until awhile of dwelling on the awkward bit. 	"I'll try not to bring it up." Nodding, she tried not to think about it... except that just made her think about it more. Talking over awkward thoughts never really helped, but she went for it anyway. "It's going to be hard, though. I do love really awkward meetings with peoples' parents." "Yeeeah." She raked a hand through her hair and sighed. "I'm really sorry about that. I didn't think she'd... she's not supposed to even be in this state."

If they had been twenty minutes later getting there, Raven would have been there and gone and they would have never even seen them. It was just the worst possible timing. "I was all excited about testing, too."

"It's okay," he told her. Well, all right, it sort of wasn't, but it wasn't not okay, either. And Piotr just kind of confused himself. "It's not like it's something you could have predicted."

He smiled a bit at that, and tried not to read too much into it. It was very reassuring to hear she'd been all excited about it, considering he'd definitely been as well. But being excited about - testing, and wanting to do it again, didn't necessarily mean anything really significant. And he really was just going to have to stop over-thinking it and talk to her about it, but, well. Not today. "Me, too."

"Nope. Not so great with the premonitions." Which was something that she was very happy about. If she never had another vision of the future for as long as she lived, she'd be happy. She'd accidentally tapped her mother once, and the nightmares had been enough to keep her from ever wanting to actually have a power anything like that.

Him too was good. She was pretty sure she'd figured out that he had wanted it too, but him saying it was... well, it was pretty much just him saying what she was pretty sure she already knew. She turned to lean a little bit over the railing as she argued with herself about whether or not it was a good idea to bring up the point that they probably still had time. She didn't want to get rejected, and it was probably not a good idea to just assume that he still wanted to do it.

"Weren't you the one that told me that was a good thing?" he asked, grinning at her.

He dropped into silence after agreeing with her, staring out at the view, but mostly debating with himself. It wasn't like they could just not talk about it forever, Piotr knew that - if only because he'd eventually break and talk about it - but bringing up the subject meant bringing in the possibility that Anna only wanted the testing, and Piotr didn't really want to face that. Not in the least because even bringing up the subject would change things, and Piotr didn't want to risk ruining their relationship. But he also wanted to know because - what if she wanted more?

By the time they left for the restaurant, he hadn't managed to convince himself that he should bring up the subject, so it had gone untouched. And really, it wasn't the kind of thing to bring up at the restaurant, which meant he was at least safe from debating with himself for a bit.

"This is it," he told her as they approached the restaurant, pulling open the door and holding it for her.

Disappointed as Anna was that they hadn't been able to test as she'd wanted to back at her apartment, the excitement of seeing Piotr's parents' place was definitely enough to make her stop thinking about it. For a little while, at least. She smiled as they approached the restaurant, giving it a once-over.

"So far I like it," she decided as she headed through the door. Immediately, her eyes searched for someone that looked like they could be related to Piotr. Glancing up at him, she asked quietly, "Do they know we're coming or is this a surprise?"

Piotr tried not to be too pleased that she liked the restaurant, failed, and gave up. He was definitely pleased.

"It's a surprise," he replied. "But I did tell them I'd be stopping by soon a few days ago, so not as much of one as it could be."

Then he smiled at the host as he passed over two menus. "Thanks, Billy," Piotr told him.

"No problem, Pete," Billy replied. "We're pretty busy, but there's a free table in the back. It's Angie's section, but I'm sure your mom'll take over when she finds out you're here."

Piotr laughed. "Most likely," he said, then turned to Anna. "To the back, then?" he said, starting towards the table.

Anna smiled at the host - Billy, apparently, and watched as he told Piotr where an open table was. She smiled politely when Piotr laughed, and then nodded to him. "To the back."

The food smelled good, and it looked like everyone seemed to be enjoying what they were eating, which was good. No irate customers wanting to scream at the chef. Which brought up a question. "So how much of the staff here is family and how much is just... staff?"

"Most of the staff is considered family in some way or another," Piotr said with a chuckle. "Especially the cooks that work with my mom, they've been here since I was really little. Most of the wait staff are people who Yana or I have been friends with since we were kids, and when we get new people, they usually get adopted pretty quickly. But as far as actual family, it's just my parents, Illyana, and me."

He grabbed a pitcher of water on their way towards the back, setting it on the table when they got there. He waited for Anna to sit down, then handed her the menu and filled up both of the glasses on the table. Then he sat down himself. "How hungry are you?" he asked.

Anna nodded as he explained. That was nice. A lot of places seemed like everyone was just there to do the job and get the hell out. It was good that they had a family type thing going on even with people who weren't actually family. She sat and took the menu with a thankful nod, scanning it. It looked good... but she definitely had no clue what she wanted.

"I'm..." not as hungry as she wanted to be, thanks to her mother's interruption. She couldn't say that out loud, though. "I'm pretty hungry. And I have no idea where to even start. So... help."

	He chuckled a bit. "Do you want to get an appetizer, or soup or salad, or skip straight to the entrees?" he asked. Piotr considered for a moment. "And I should probably check and see if you actually want something to drink besides water and vodka." They'd get both those automatically, but they did actually have other things to drink there. 	"Whatever's best." Anna nodded. She was just going to defer to Piotr since he was definitely more of an expert on the matter than she was. Or would ever be. "We can always take leftovers home, right? Or is your mom going to like... make us eat everything on our plates?" "Water and vodka are fine," she smiled. "I can just stick to clear liquids." 	"She might try," he commented with a grin. "But I can talk her out of it. Most likely." He nodded. "Clear liquids it is, then!" he agreed, looking back down at the menu. Piotr could just tell her his favorites, but that didn't mean she'd necessarily like them, so he asked, "Feel like anything in particular? Chicken, fish, red meat? No meat at all?" 	"Would you be saying that if she was standing right here?" Anna raised an eyebrow, grinning back at him. She gave him a thumbs-up when he agreed on clear liquids and then looked at the menu himself. That made him laugh, especially because his first instinct was to check and make sure she wasn't right there. "No. But only because I'd be too busy trying to talk her out of it without making it seem like that's what I was doing."

He nodded. "If you want traditional and somewhat cliche, the beef stroganoff and the chicken kiev are both really good. I'd also recommend the grilled lamb chop, if you like eggplant, or the pelmeni, if you like veal."

Anna laughed, nodding as she took a sip of water. Yep. That sounded about right. She lowered her menu to look at him more as he suggested a few things, bouncing her foot slightly under the table. It felt like a date, and maybe it was, but maybe it wasn't, since it hadn't originally been intended to be a date, and she wasn't sure she wanted it to be a date, anyway... but she was going to try her best to just ignore that entire line of thinking.

"I've had stroganoff... and maybe kiev. I think. Veal sounds good, though." Veal was also a lot easier to say than pelmeni, so she was just going to go with that.
