Carter had a little bit of time to himself, which was pretty rare these days. Going back and forth from Boston to New York was really starting to take it's toll on him. With Shrek running in Boston, and the 501 things he was trying to get under his belt here, it was no wonder that the guy was stretched pretty damn thin. Time to do something not involving work!
But what? He looked at the time. Tessa should be home. He grabbed his keys and rushed down the stairs of his apartment, not bothering to call ahead of time. Carter never really did that kind of thing. Spontaneous actions and surprise visits were all too common when it came to him. Never mind the fact that Jack shouldn't be home. All the better.
Carter... didn't like Jack. To be fair though? Jack never really got the chance to ever show he was a nice guy. Carter decided he didn't like him, and that was it. He decided that before he even met him really. In all honesty, in a way, it wasn't anything against Jack. Carter just didn't think that anybody was good enough for his sister. He wanted to see her happy, but he didn't think she needed a relationship in order to make that happen. He may have been younger than she was, but that didn't mean that he wasn't extremely, overbearingly protective of her. Growing up, all they had was each other. No one else. So why did she suddenly need this Jack character so much?
And don't even get him started on the fact that they were married. Carter didn't know about this turn of events until after it happened. Yet again, it wasn't all bad. Carter was an understanding person. He knew and understood why she did it, but that didn't make him feel any less hurt about the whole thing.
Carter drove a little too fast down the road, trying as best as he could to avoid any sort of traffic. Most people said he should just take a taxi, but the drivers were never efficient enough for him. He reached his sister's (and Jack's) place, and parked his car. He knocked on the door lightly, but didn't wait for a response. Instead, he tried the knob, and it turned in his hand. He stepped through the door, and as a greeting, said "Tess, you really shouldn't forget to lock the door. Any crazy could barge in here." Referring to himself at the present, of course. He closed the door behind him, and closed the door. Normally the door wasn't unlocked, but he didn't really let the register. "Hello?" He peaked around the corner into the living room, not immediately seeing his sister, or hearing her. Wait. Was she here?
