To be completely honest? Rhi was over the 'situation'. She was. She'd moved on. She wasn't remotely in love with Nate anymore. ...but she wasn't over him. He'd been such a huge part of her life for so long and she wasn't ready to let that go. It just seemed like she had to. There really was no choice anymore. There were only so many times a girl could be pushed away before she finally lost hope. As of this moment? Rhiannon Mondale was officially done with Nate Bradshaw. Took her long enough, but she couldn't take any more.
There was absolutely nothing he could do. Nothing. She wasn't herself anymore, hadn't been for a long time. She'd let him affect her that much. She was stronger than this. Everything about him needed to become water under the bridge if she was ever going to get back to her old self and this encounter did nothing but prove that. This guy had cheated on her, snubbed her and hurt her more times than she could count and she was begging him to be friends again. Oh hell no. This is not how the game is played.
She laughed. A quiet, short, sad laugh, but a laugh nevertheless. "You're right. This makes absolutely no logical sense." She looked at him and shook her head, forcing a smile. She paused for a second. "...I'm done Nate. Maybe a month or two, maybe even a few weeks ago we could have fixed this. Now?" She folded her arms across her stomach and shrugged. "It's too late. I've been hurt by you too many times and today was the final straw. Things were never going to be the way they used to be, but now they can't even be close."
Another laugh. "Were we ever friends, Nate? Really? Or was it a one way thing? Was I just a little puppy dog trailing after you all these years?" Her expression hardened and she stood up straighter. "Well those days are over. I'm Rhiannon Mondale, Nate. I have better things to do than play bodyguard to someone who will never see me as anything more than a convenience." She pushed past him and opened the door, making it perfectly clear she wasn't going to be stopped with the exception of one pause. She turned around partially. "I stopped by to tell Holly I'm moving to Boston in a month. Have her call me." And with that? She left with no intention of ever looking back.
