Nate was a selfish bastard, he really was. He knew it, accepted it and usually it ended up being somewhat of a good trait. That may not be the best way of thinking but who was going to stop him? It had gotten him this far and he had to say that he’d done pretty well for himself. Although, yes, he'd had to learn when to shut the sefishness off and actually care because screwing things up now? Not going to happen. It's just a shame for him that he'd only gotten that far with one girl. The others in his life? Well, Nate was still working on that. One in particular.
Rhi. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to be her friend anymore because he did it’s just that as soon as she’d found out what happened… things changed. The way she acted towards him changed (with good reason, mind you, he couldn’t blame her) but that didn’t mean he wasn’t confused by it. By now he was so used to being on her ‘good’ side that coming off it had been a huge shock. It didn’t matter if it was said that she wanted to be his friend because lets face it, girls say things they don’t mean all the time and Nate? He was just trying to figure out what the fuck to do.
He still had no idea. Not one.
This stupid apartment was doing him no good. It was better now that Holly was here (and he didn’t have to do all the damn cooking which was definitely a plus) but… ugh. He’d just gotten too used to things too quickly. Settled in the wrong way (spending way too much time with only one person can do that) and now he was stuck. Great. Just great.
Hearing a knock at the door Nate groaned. Who the hell was this going to be? Another reason why being alone wasn’t a good idea, it was way too much time to let thoughts go off on their own unfair paths and… this was probably why he should be getting out more, huh? He was planning on it, really he was. With one swift movement the door was swung open.
Well, shit. “…Rhi.” Pull yourself together. “You look good.” … Wait. She’d gotten the new hair a while a go, hadn’t she? Damn. Not that she was here to see him, Nate knew that, he wasn’t that stupid. “If you're looking for Holly she isn’t here.”
