DP jerked to his feet, backing off, eyes suddenly bleak and dark. "Don't!" He spoke sharply, retreating another step as Snap leapt up and came to heel, looking curiously between the two. "Don't put that on me -- I don't want to carry your souls, too." His voice cracked on the last, and he turned away, blindly heading for the door.
Snap paused, one foot in the air, and looked after him, then looked at Sally again, head tipped, before trotting after his master.
