A quick history lesson for you all! Before Christianity came to Ireland and suppressed the true religions, there was a pantheon of Celtic gods and goddesses who were worshipped by humanity. Even before those gods, though, were a variety of settlers, the waves and order in which they came are described in the
Book of Invasions, which, while it was written approximately one thousand years after the events had occurred, is relatively accurate. I won't bore you with the details of these races but they all had their own gods, their own creation stories, and most of those gods and stories focused on the worship of the earth.
What I'm trying to say here is that, while St. Patrick is the saint of Ireland, he's not representative of Ireland's history and that misrepresentation of Ireland's history and character has only been furthered by the drunken hooliganism that happens every St. Patrick's Day.
So, on Saturday, March 17th, with the help of some friends, I'm going to be throwing a party that gets back to the roots of Ireland. We're going out into the desert, where Remy will use his science to start a temporary terraforming process which I will then complete with my own skills. Sophia and I will be providing the food, simple food, fresh fruit, good meat, with as little processed chemicals as possible in modern times. Sparkling water will be plentiful and, while obviously we're not going to be strip-searching every party-goer, we want to stay away from major drunkenness and therefore will not be providing alcohol.
But! There will be dancing, good music, and a nice little oasis of nature in the desert. Let me know if you have any skills you want to contribute to this party and I'll be sending out directions once we have a good location out in the desert.
