It's still hard to believe that I can talk to people through this little thing. I have not been very social since I've been here, and so I do hope I have not slighted anyone. I must admit, I have been quite distracted by the gardens here. I have never seen anything like them.

I would be quite happy to make the acquaintance of any of my fellow passengers, and regret that I haven't made more of an effort to do so. My name is Louisa, Miss Louisa Bush. How do you do?

Isn't it just?

The good news is that our brother hasn't learned how to use it much, so we can talk here without him getting all worked up. How are you settling in?

Cecelia, really!

Oh, I'm doing well. His lordship has been showing me how to use things.

What, I missed you. Now you're here and I want to be able to talk to my sister.

His lordship? Is that the army officer Captain Hornblower knows?

I'm glad you're here, little Cecy.

Yes, Major Lord Edrington. He's quite noble and kind.

Jack said so too. What's he been teaching you, then?

Well, how to use this little thing, for one. And some of the other strange devices, as much as he knows. I don't like to trouble William. He's in such a mood.

Ah. Sorry about that.

He hardly knows anyway. He doesn't trust them. You know how he is with new things.

I'm just grateful I can escape to the gardens occasionally.

He'll come around. He has to.

Of course you like them. I'll have to take a walk there tomorrow, and happen to run into you...

It would. I'll bring myself tea, with an extra cup. We can take tea in the gardens like ladies.

I did just go behind his back to marry his least favourite midshipman.

You'd think he'd be happier here, considering he has the Captain and Mr Kennedy.

Yes. William really dislikes him, because of a mistake Jack made. He gave his life trying to make it right, or he would have, but William is still being stubborn.

Oh. I didn't - it's not a secret, half the ship knows. They're ... involved. All of them. He loves them and they love him.

Yes.

Which really makes it rich that he's come down so hard on me over marrying Jack. I've married him. And - well, I've still not actually had a proper wedding night, so really he hasn't got a leg to stand on.

How do you do...what? They have gardens here? That's kinda neat, I guess. Haven't explored much myself... too busy trying to figure out exactly what the deal is here. One guy says we just sort of showed up here, with no bad intentions. Well, this box looks more like a maze than the actual Maze I was in every day for 2 years... Oh... sorry. Ain't too good with the social thing... I'm Minho.

Just... how do you do. How are you?

And yes, the gardens are magnificent. You should really see them if you haven't yet.

A pleasure, Mr. Minho. As I said, I'm Miss Louisa.

You don't say. I'm going to have to check that out. Need to see how their vegetables and such are grown. Fry Pan doesn't appear to be here, either, along with my other Glader friends... so I'll need to see that the kitchen is well stocked and people get fed just right... order and things. That's what this place needs.

It's mostly flowers. Very beautiful. I never could spare space for flowers at home, however much I wanted to.

Mostly...flowers? That's not a sufficient use for gardening... I mean, I guess they're pretty... don't really know much about them...didn't have 'em in the Glade. I will definitely have to find a patch for vegetables and fruits... and maybe a patch for animals...

It's ornamental. And it has flowers from all over the world, and from other worlds. It's an incredible collection. It's the kind of garden you can have when you're not worried about starving.

That's the thing though. We keep gettin' anymore people in this place, we will be starving. This shuck box can't keep everyone fed on sheer will. It's just not possible. Definitely WICKED scheming.
