Hi!

You've stumbled upon the beta journal for my original fiction projects, usually done during NaNoWriMo in November and then continued in fits and spurts throughout the year.

1. This is a beta journal. If you don't beta, comment, feedback, take the polls and participate, you don't get to keep reading the fiction.

2. This is original fiction, so it won't be showing up anywhere else -- not on my lj, ij or the Bunny Farm. If you just want to see what sort of original fic I would write, given the chance? Tough noogies.

3. I'm a big meanie -- I generally kick people off in waves, about 10 days after posting any given poll. If you don't read your IJ flist at least twice that often, don't waste my time and yours by joining.

4. If you know what Makeshift is and are wondering where it went, that answer would be, nowhere. It's still locked up right where it was, but since it's done, I've purged that friendslist down to me, me, and me. Cry to someone who cares.

Sound like too much trouble? Good, go away. Sound like you really still want to participate with intelligent criticisms, poll responses, and feedback? Friend away, and if I don't know you personally, a comment here would be useful. Otherwise I'll just be going "who? why? no."

Because I really am that mean.

(PS - If you have this journal friended and are seeing this, sorry, I still love you all but it won't let me do a backdated "sticky" post to a comm. Stupid reality.)

You four two have friended [info]swtalmnd_nano but not joined. You will not be able to see the actual posts until you join the asylum.

Everyone else! Have you taken the poll? Do you get that this is a beta community, and if you don't participate, you will get booted off the island? I love that you like my writing enough to want to read the original stuff, I really do, but I don't want a bunch of lurkers here.

I'm not saying you have to comment on every post, but you do have to take the polls (which is SO quick, come on, people), and comment once in a while, once the writing gets started.

If you don't think you can do that, you might as well leave now, because it's always worse to get booted halfway through a story, knowing that you'll never get to see the ending. Because this stuff? Never gets posted anywhere else. Ever.

Story #1: Professor of Ritual Magic, Oxbridge University of the Sorcerous Arts (Adult, gay)
Alan Harper never expected to be back at the university where he got his degree, and especially not as a professor. But war has decimated the ranks of experienced sorcerers in Britain, and even a misfit is better than no one at all. Alan's main worry isn't his classes -- it's the advanced students, who need one-on-one teaching. With his specialty in Sex Magic and his preference well-established, will he manage in his new role as mentor and teacher?

Story #2: Andy Brewer, Potions Apprentice (YA, gen)
Andy Brewer has been told all his life that his Uncle and guardian would be rid of him soon enough, as he was to be Apprenticed at age 13. Andy was skeptical right up until the day he found himself packed, served his papers and whisked off to the Choosing Ceremony to become an Apprentice of Potions like his father, grandfather, and many generations before him. With such a long tradition behind him, what could possibly go wrong?

Story #3: Maiden-by-Choice (Adult, gay, pseudo-historical crack romance)
As children, the boys and girls of English Nobility are given a choice: Suitor or Maiden. Adrian Kincaid was born a boy, but chooses to live the life of a Maiden -- to wear gowns, learn embroidery, have a Season in London and finally be wooed by Suitors. Will he manage to find happiness in his chosen role, or will he regret having given his fate over to the whims of other men?

Note: If you can see this but you can't vote, you may not have joined the comm. You have to both join AND friend the community for future posts to show up on your friendslist!

Note #2: If you're new to the watching-Amy's-nano thing, be advised that this is a beta journal -- which means if you don't participate, take the polls and, you know, actually beta, you will be kicked off. Yes, I'm mean. No, I don't care.
