Who: Lex and Zack (with a cameo by Katee)
What: An awkward reunion
When: Wednesday Morning
Where: The Zeppo
Warning: Awkward and very NSFW
Zack had spent quite some time trying to decide if he wanted to show up at the shop. He could corner Lex and he'd have to talk to him. That or he'd toss him out on his ass or call the police or have some form of conniption. Either way, they'd end up running into one another sooner or later and it was better if he initiated the encounter rather than randomly run into the man. So he headed up to The Zeppo and ended up walking around the block about four times before getting the balls to come in. Lex was at the counter, that painting of Serenity close by and he couldn't resist drudging up the past right off the bat.
Stuffing his hands into the pocket of his jeans, he took a step towards the man and uttered those words he'd uttered when he first met Lex. "Is that Serenity or are you just happy to see me?"
Lex was pricing action figures beside the counter, lost in the routine of pick up box in left hand - press trigger on pricing gun with right hand - bring hands together - sticker top right corner - drop figure into box behind him. He was on autopilot, mind still in a whirl from the gift Zack had sent him yesterday. It didn’t help that he was a little hungover to boot; Ace was right, drinks had stopped him thinking about Zack, but it hadn’t helped this morning. He’d come in early anyway, with nothing else to do but stare at the ceiling.
In a daze, he wasn’t really paying attention to anyone walking into the shop, until someone walked up to the counter. He was just dragging his gaze away from the action figure in his hand when the customer began to speak, and Lex paled. His eyes snapped to Zack’s face, hurt, disbelieving, and confused. That had been the first thing Zack ever said to him, back when they’d first made friends.
“Pretty sure it’s not the latter,” Lex ground out, swallowing around a jagged lump in his throat.
Zack knew he deserved that one. He honestly had expected worse. His eyes flicked to the floor, to his shoes, and he bit his lower lip as he tried to figure out what the hell he was going to say next. He supposed he hadn't thought that far ahead just yet. He no doubt had gotten the present that Zack had sent. Apparently it hadn't been a welcome one. "No, I guess it's not." he commented in return, finally forcing his eyes upwards to the man's face. He wanted to run out of the room and just end his own misery now and pretend he'd never come here, but he couldn't really do that now.
Lex placed the pricing gun down on the counter, wincing as it clattered against the glass top, falling from half-numb fingers. He thought about stepping out from behind the desk, moving Zack away from the register (and the chance of someone interrupting them) but he was glad of physical barrier between them. He couldn’t think of anything to say, hangover pounding behind his eyes, stomach churning - though that wasn’t entirely because of the alcohol.
“What are you doing here?” He asked, hoping he didn’t look quite as miserable and broken as he was sure he sounded.
"I came to see you..." he said, the words sounding flat and almost like a question themselves. He wanted to say more than that but he wasn't even sure where to go from there. "I don't like where we left things. I don't like that you left at all. I don't like that I was stupid enough to let you go." he admitted, stomach aching, heart pounding and his nervous habit of biting his lip coming out in full effect.
“Well,” Lex’s voice trembled a little, and he cleared his throat, crossing his arms and glaring at Zack.
“I guess you’ll have to get used to disappointment.” He had no idea what Zack was thinking - first the cupcakes, then showing up like this. Lex might have been the one to leave, but Zack had made it clear with his behavior that he wanted the relationship to be over. And now he’d changed his mind? Lex didn’t buy it for a second.
“If you didn’t want me to leave, you shouldn’t have cheated on me,” he added, muscles in his jaw twitching. He was all too aware that the shop was empty, that Katee was due to come in any minute now, and that his staff were all probably listening to this conversation.
For the first time since he'd been accused of cheating, Zack finally uttered the truth. "I never cheated on you, you idiot." he muttered, annoyed that Lex still thought that all these months later. "Hell, if we're being perfectly honest, the last person I slept with was you." he added, just to drive that point home. "I was in love with you for Christ's sake. Still am. There was just so much other shit that I couldn't bring myself to admit to you..." he sighed.
“Bullshit,” Lex snapped, angry that Zack was lying to him, that he’d changed his tune from seven months ago.
“I saw you with that guy, I saw how you were around each other.” It had hurt like hell, but it had been the last push Lex had needed to leave. They hadn’t been a proper couple in months, more like roomates who shared the same house and occasionally had sex. He didn’t want to listen to anything else Zack had to say, didn’t want to admit that he was still in love with him.
“I don’t care what other shit you’re dealing with,” he said, looking at Zack defiantly. “Get out of my store.”
"I flirted." he told him, managing to keep his voice calm. "I'm not denying that. It's the kind of person I am. I can't help it, it's just what I do, but I never cheated on you. You know when I'm lying." he reminded him. "My cheeks get flushed and my ears get red and I start stuttering. I'm not fuckin' stuttering now am I?" he asked him. He sighed when Lex told him to leave. "Fine." he said, unable to even argue with him. It was his store and he had every right to push him out if he wanted to. "But you're going to have to talk to me sooner or later. If that means I gotta camp outside til you lemme in, so be it. You'd save the both of us a hell of a lot of time if you just listened to what I have to say. If you feel like kicking me in the nuts afterwards, whatever."
Lex just sighed, rubbing his face wearily. He really didn’t have the energy for this.
“I really don’t have to talk to you, Zack,” he said, feeling like he was going to be sick. “Ever.” He’d been so hurt, and it had been so long. He’d thought he was starting to get over Zack. And then the cupcakes had turned up, and thrown everything up in the air.
“Just get out. Please.” He hated showing any sort of weakness, but he couldn’t even try and sound angry. He was too hurt, and still too in love with Zack, for that. Bowing his head, he fiddled with the pricing gun, untwisting the roll of stickers, hoping that Zack would take the hint and just leave.
Zack usually didn't take hints very well. Most of the time just choosing to ignore them. Walking over to the counter, standing barely a few feet from the other man, he reached out and caught him by the shirt, fingers clutching at the fabric. "Me letting you leave had nothing to do with me wanting you to go." he said, his own voice low and obviously aching. "I didn't want you to leave me. I just... I thought that you'd be better off without me. I thought that you were unhappy and that I was just bad for you and instead of having the balls to say as much I just let you go and it was the stupidest thing I did my whole life." Reluctantly he released the man's clothing, knowing he'd overstepped his bounds. "I loved you." he breathed. "I still love you and not a second goes by that I don't regret letting you walk out that door. I've spent the last seven months hating myself."
Barely able to breathe, Lex froze when Zack reached out, caught hold of his shirt. He didn’t want to hear what Zack had to say, but he had no choice but to listen, frozen in place by the press of warm fingers against his chest.
“Don’t, Zack,” Lex whispered, shaking his head. He closed his eyes for a moment, unable to even look at him. “Please, don’t do this.” He couldn’t fall for Zack again, couldn’t risk being hurt. He’d barely been able to cope the first time they’d broken up, he knew he’d never survive it again. It was too much to hope that the other man was telling the truth. He was trembling now, part of him aching to just reach out and hold Zack now that he was here, the other part wanting to run away, hide and never come out.
"Please just let me explain why I let you go and then once you've heard what I have to say you can kick me out and I'll never bother you again." he said, though he doubted he could keep that promise. "I just need you to understand what happened. You have the right to know and I have the right to be able to explain myself. I'm not asking for anything more than you listening to me. Please?" He drew in a shaky breath and glanced around to see if anyone was being nosy and found a few signs of nosy workers here and there. "Please?" he said again as he turned his head towards Lex again.
Lex couldn’t be the one to make Zack sound that sad, that pleading. Even now, after all that had happened, he couldn’t do it.
“Alright,” he said softly, defeated. “I’ll listen. Just...” he looked around the shop, watching his assistant manager, and another member of staff, suddenly make themselves look busy. Ok, so he didn’t need to bother telling them that he was taking a break. “Ok, come on.” He walked around from behind the counter, careful not to get too close to Zack.
“I’ll be back in a bit,” he called his staff, heading for the office. Opening the door, he gestured for Zack to step inside. He just hoped it wouldn’t be a long conversation.
Zack entered the office and waited until Lex had done the same and closed the door behind them. He resisted the urge - just barely - the grab the guy and just hold him. It was quite difficult to be in such a closed space, the scent of Lex all around him. It was like being in a candy store and being unable to lick anything. Fuck this was hard. He drew in a breath and let it out slowly as he scratched at the back of his neck. "I don't even know where to start." he said honestly. "But I guess I should go to the beginning. I didn't cheat. I promise you that. I just let you think that I did because it was easier than telling you the truth."
Lex stood on the opposite side of the office, arms folded. His hands were curled into fists, grabbing handfuls of the baggy tshirt he was wearing as he fought not to reach out for Zack, a part of him still acting on reflex. They’d been touchy-feely, even as friends, and it somehow still felt wrong not to touch him, hug him.
“Why?” Lex asked hoarsely. “How could me thinking you cheated on me possibly be easier?” He was totally confused, hurt and angry and upset and still desperately in love with Zack. He’d thought moving away would help; he hadn’t realised that all it would take would be Zack walking into the shop, and he’d be just as in love as he had been seven months ago.
"Because," he sighed, exasperated and unable to really figure out the best way to say what he needed to say. "I told you I was fae," he began. "But what I didn't explain was exactly what that means." And now here it came, something that would likely just push Lex farther away. The only way to say it would be to rip it off like a bandaid. "I'm fucking immortal for lack of better description. I won't ever look any older than I do now and unless someone comes 'round and chops off my head, I'm not ever gonna die." There, it was out.
That...had not been what Lex was expecting. He looked blankly at Zack, as if expecting him to burst out laughing, tell him it was all just a joke.
“So...” he began, then trailed off, having no idea what he was actually planning on saying. “I...” No, he still had no idea. But it did explain why Zack had always been vague about the future, why he looked exactly the same now as he had when Lex had met him. Lex had always figured he was just lucky - he never seemed to put on weight despite how much sugar he ate, so Lex just assumed the same was true of aging.
Yeah, that had been pretty much the reaction he'd expected. "So you have to understand that letting you leave being pissed off at me was easier than explaining to you that I can't ever die and that eventually I wouldn't be worth your time. I couldn't promise you that we'd grow old together. I couldn't promise you... anything." he sighed, letting his eyes flick to the floor, his hands coming up to rub at his eyes.
"I'm sorry I wasn't honest with you. I just didn't want you to be stuck with me when I couldn't give you all the things you deserved. I put you out in California and you were miserable and it was all my fault and on top of it all I was doing it selfishly. I just wanted you to be happy and I thought that leaving was best for you." Looking up at the other man again, he swallowed the lump in his throat. "What I didn't count on was the fact that I couldn't walk around the apartment without thinking of you. I couldn't walk down the street without seeing your face. I couldn't breathe in without thinking I could smell your cologne." He'd been thoroughly pathetic if he was being perfectly honest. "I couldn't even sleep in the damn bed for the first month and a half." he admitted. There had been far too many memories between the sheets of that damn thing.
Lex laughed harshly, the sound forced, and full of pain.
“You let us break up for my benefit?” Lex shook his head. “Fuck you, Zack. Fuck. You.” He couldn’t think about the rest of what Zack had said, how he still missed Lex, how he’d been so lonely. Like it hadn’t been hard for him.
“I moved across the fucking country to try and get over you,” he said wearily. “I stopped talking to all of our friends, because they reminded me of you. Damnit, I still can’t watch Buffy without missing you.” He shook his head. “And now you turn up and say you did it for me?”
He sighed. He deserved every ounce of what he was getting. Really he deserved more. "I didn't know what else to do." he told him. "You were angry with me for something I hadn't done, you suspected me of cheating which made me feel like you didn't trust me. You were miserable in California and the only thing keeping you in that place was me. It wasn't fair of me to hold you there when you were so damn unhappy. What was I supposed to do?" he questioned. He knew he'd handled things the wrong way, but honestly he wasn't sure what the alternative would have been. "I just packed up all my shit and moved across the country all because I don't want to be without you anymore." he whined. "I don't know how to take back what I did and maybe I'm fucked for the rest of eternity, but I had to tell you the truth..."
Lex covered his face with his hands, taking a deep breath. He sighed, forcing his hands to drop, looking at Zack on the other side of the small office. He looked utterly miserable, and there was a part of Lex that wanted to close the gap between them, take Zack’s face in his hands, and kiss him until they were both dizzy.
But he couldn’t let himself fall again. He couldn’t risk Zack leaving him. Shaking his head, Lex leaned back heavily against the wall.
“I can’t do this,” he said, barely above a whisper. “I can’t go through that again, Zack.” What happened when he got older, and Zack got fed up of him? They looked roughly the same age now, but in 5 years, 10, he’d look like a complete creep. And beyond that...why the hell would Zack stay with him when he was old and senile, and Zack was still young and beautiful? No, he couldn’t. Zack couldn’t ask that of him.
“I’m sorry.”
Zack blinked a little, having expected that response, prepared himself for it. But it still cut like a knife straight through his heart. A jagged, heated knife. The last little apology was just an added twist to it all and Zack was fairly certain that nothing in his life hurt as much as that very moment.
"Okay." he said simply, though the word gave away exactly how much he was in pain. "I don't have any right to beg for your forgiveness." he breathed, trying to pretend that he wasn't aching and that his voice wasn't cracking like a pubescent teenager's. "But I'm not leaving." he added as he crossed the space between them and rested his palm against Lex's chest. "If that means I spend the rest of my damned life pining over you and acting like a completely ridiculous moron, so be it. But I'm not leaving. I know what I want and I'm fuckin' sick and tired of pushin' those feelings away. If you can look me in the eyes and tell me you don't love me, that's one thing, but I know you do. I know you."
Zack’s hand felt like a brand against his chest, burning hot through the thin material of his t-shirt. He listened to Zack’s words, still so close to giving in, to just leaning forward and kissing him. But he remembered how miserable he’d been, the last few months of their relationship. He remembered how hard it had been to come here alone, set up a new life. It was his, and his alone. He couldn’t let Zack take that as well.
He forced his eyes up to meet Zack’s, muscle in his jaw twitching as he clenched his teeth, forced himself to speak.
“I don’t love you,” he said, voice cracking. “Not anymore.” It was a lie, and Zack could probably tell, but Lex was desperate to make him leave before he caved.
Hearing the words, even knowing that they were a lie, hurt. So much so that he could feel his eyes watering despite his best efforts to not let those emotions show. His eyes searched Lex's for the truth, wanting so badly to pretend that the words hadn't been as harsh as they had in reality. He wanted to back to beginning and start all over again. He wanted to make it up to the other man. Most of all he just wanted Lex. In every sense of the word. "You never were very good at lying." he choked out, a single tear betraying him and slipping down his cheek. "Doesn't mean that hurt any less. Guess we're even."
Lex felt a stab of guilt even as he said the words; as a single tear rolled down Zack’s face, the guilt worsened. Unable to stop himself, Lex reached out, wiping the tear away with his thumb. Shaking like a leaf, he caressed Zack’s cheek. It hurt so badly, to even try and push Zack away. It couldn’t be worse if he gave in.
“Don’t cry, babe,” he whispered, cupping Zack’s face in both hands, “I didn’t mean it, I’m sorry.” Still shaking, he pressed their lips together, brow furrowed, a soft sob of relief escaping him as Lex completely failed to push him away. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” he whispered into the kiss, wrapping his arms around Zack tightly.
Zack was shaking just as badly as Lex was. Why did loving someone have to be so damn hard and complicated? Fucking love. He kissed him back, his own arms winding around the other man as he pressed himself in against Lex. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." he whispered in return, muffled words between the press of their lips. He wanted to cry even more now, fearing that this would be the end all over again. The thought made him hold tighter still to Lex, unwilling to release him.
Lex hugged him tight, burying his face against Zack’s neck, clutching a handful of his jacket, the other grabbing at Zack’s hair, holding him close. He drew a ragged breath, eyes closed as he pressed impossibly closer. Zack felt so good, and that empty ache that he’d been living with for seven months started to ease a little. He was still terrified, still hurt, still angry with Zack for letting him think he’d cheated all that time...but he’d been a fool to think that he could walk away without breaking both of them into a million pieces.
Zack almost believed that he was dreaming. He'd wanted so badly for this moment to be a reality that he scarcely believed it to be true now that it was. His fingers clutched tightly at the back of Lex's shirt for a brief moment before shifting round to the front of his shirt and pressing him back in against the wall. His head pulled back enough that he could find his lips once more, kissing him as if he thought he'd never get another chance to kiss the man again.
Lex went where Zack pushed him, still holding on to him tightly. He threaded his fingers through messy hair, thumb gently stroking the soft skin just behind Zack’s ear. He fell into the kiss eagerly, pulling Zack more tightly against him, still shaking. Any minute now, Lex was certain, he’d wake up. His life couldn’t be like this, Zack wouldn’t move all the way across country for him.
Zack's fingers slid down the front of Lex's shirt, clutching at the hemline of it and pushing it up enough that his hands could delve beneath the fabric. He drew his fingers over the other man's flesh with a low groan, muffled into their kiss.
Lex shivered hard, sucking in his stomach a little as Zack’s fingers slid under his shirt. He’d stopped caring so much about his appearance after he left Zack; it was only recently he’d started to get back into shape. He wasn’t fat by any means, but he definitely wasn’t as toned as he’d been when they’d split up. Trying not to think about it, he tugged at Zack’s jacket instead, trying to shove it down over his arms. He needed to touch more of Zack, needed to feel skin against his. He didn’t even care that he was at work, that his staff would probably know exactly what was going on.
“God, I missed you so much,” he murmured, breaking the kiss for a moment, pressing their foreheads together, his eyes closed.
Zack didn't think that he was anything but perfect. He would have pushed the shirt off entirely if Lex hadn't pushed at his jacket. Removing his hands from beneath Lex's shirt, he shrugged out of the jacket and let it fall to the floor. "I missed you too..." he breathed in response, eyes searching Lex's for a second or two. Drawing in a breath, Zack took a brief moment to let his hands slide down the back of his own shirt to the hem line and pulling it up and over his head. He needed that closeness just as much as Lex did.
Lex finished what Zack had started with his hands under his shirt - it was bunched up at his armpits anyway. He pulled it over his head, dropping it to the floor. He took a moment to just look at Zack, before he reached out, ran his hands slowly down Zack’s sides, over his ribs, and down to rest at his hips. His fingers curled into beltloops, and Lex tugged him closer. This was a monumentally bad idea, one he’d probably regret, but right now he couldn’t bring himself to care.
Unable to bring himself to give a damn either, Zack let himself get lost in that moment. It didn't matter where they were or who was around because it felt like they were right where they were supposed to be. He kissed Lex again, his own hands slipping down to fumble with the fastenings of Lex's pants, undoing them and pushing them down past his hips. The boxers beneath were dragged along with them, his fingers immediately wrapping around Lex's length with a soft growl against the man's mouth. Some things never changed and the way Lex could turn him on certainly remained the same. Just touching him had Zack hot and bothered and strangled by his own jeans.
Lex groaned, slumping against the wall, his arms wrapped around Zack’s shoulders. He hadn’t been with anyone since they’d split up, and he’d almost forgotten how good Zack felt, how he always knew exactly how to touch him. He reached down, fumbling with Zack’s pants in turn, thrusting into Zack’s hand.
Finally getting Zack’s button fly undone (he’d forgotten how hard it was, and how frustrated he always got, trying to get Zack’s jeans off in a hurry), he shoved his hand inside, wrapping his fingers around Zack’s cock in turn.
“Definitely missed this,” he gasped, feeling his cheeks heat. He was never particularly comfortable talking about sex, even in bed, and that certainly hadn’t changed.
Zack grunted, his hips pressing into Lex's waiting grasp. Yeah, he wasn't the only one who'd missed this. It was quite obvious with just how painfully hard Zack already was that he'd had many a sleepless night envisioning this very moment. Finding his lover's mouth once more, he let out a soft groan before kissing him a bit more forcefully, his thumb teasing over the tip of Lex's cock.
Lex whined into the kiss, hips jerking forward as Zack teased him. He kissed back just as forcefully, ruffling Zack’s hair with his fingers as he cupped the nape of his neck, holding him in place. He wanted more, wanted to be able to spend hours kissing every inch of Zack’s body, relearning everything about him. They didn’t have that time now, though, and he’d just have to make do.
He stroked Zack’s cock slowly, drinking in the soft sighs and moans that he could coax out of him.
Zack had had enough teasing. If he didn't take action now he was positively going to burst. So without another word or another sound, he sank to his knees before Lex, eyes flicking up to the other man's face as he let his tongue poke out from between his lips and slide along the underside of Lex's cock. He traced it from base to tip, giving it a little flick of his tongue once he'd reached it. He still tasted the same and Zack wanted nothing more than to drive Lex completely mad. So he wrapped his fingers around the base of his cock and swirled his tongue over the head of him, a little groan bubbling up in the back of his throat. He fully intended to draw this out, the fingers of his other hand slipping around himself, lazily stroking in time with the teasing strokes of his tongue.
“Oh, Jesus...” Lex breathed, watching as Zack went slowly to his knees. He couldn’t look away, letting out a soft whimper as Zack licked a trail from root to tip, licking him like a goddamned popsicle. He cupped Zack’s face, gently stroking his cheek as he leant more heavily against the wall, bracing his feet wider apart.
“Babe, please...” he moaned softly, trying to pull Zack closer, trying to stop him from teasing.
He didn't want to keep him waiting too long, impatient enough himself. So Zack let his lips slide down on the other man, meeting the fingertips of his hand still wrapped around the base of his cock. He groaned, partly out of pleasure and partly to tease Lex all the more. He could have started with a slow rhythm, but Zack just wanted to make Lex come and he wanted to leave tingles of aftershocks in his wake.
Lex shivered, that groan vibrating through his cock, making him moan and jerk softly. He moved his hand to the back of Zack’s head, caressing rather than holding, letting him set the pace still. His other hand was on Zack’s shoulder, Lex’s head tilted back against the wall. He closed his eyes, moaning again as he thrust slowly into Zack’s hand, the wet grip of his mouth.
The sounds that slipped from Lex's mouth had Zack throbbing in his own hand. He gave himself a few more strokes as he picked up the pace of his movements, swirling his tongue around the head of Lex's cock each time he pulled back. Letting his hand move away from the other man's dick, he pressed his fingers in against the skin of Lex's hip, groaning as he pressed him further into his mouth, swallowing against him as the head of his dick hit the back of his throat.
Lex looked down, a little dazed, still unable to believe that this was actually happening. He bit down hard on his lower lip, trying to choke back a whimper as Zack took him in deeper, swallowing around his cock.
“Babe, Zack, I can’t,” he gasped, thighs trembling as he tried to hold himself up against the wall. “I’m gonna come...”
That was exactly what Zack was going for. He wanted Lex spiraling over the edge, especially after hearing the sound of his own name on the other man's lips. Fuck that was sexy. Especially in the midst of what they were doing. He groaned in response, a signal that he wasn't going to stop, his hand picking up the pace of strokes to his own cock.
Lex fought to keep his eyes open, gaze locked on Zack’s, gasping for breath as he rocked forward into his mouth, his fingers tight in Zack’s hair. He glanced down, watching the other man touch himself, that alone enough to make him desperate to come. It felt like forever, and like seconds, since Zack had walked through the door. He couldn’t believe it had come to this, that Zack was really here, on his knees.
“I can’t believe this is happening,” he moaned, stroking Zack’s cheek gently. “Can’t believe you’re here.” He rocked his hips forward again and again, fast now, breath ragged. God he was close, he was so close...
“Hey, bossman, I need the keys for the-OHMYGOD!!!!” Katee smacked her hands over her eyes, mouth wide open. “SCARRED FOR LIFE. OH MY GOD.” The door swung shut behind her and she stood, frozen.
“Katee, get the fuck out!” Lex gasped roughly, going bright red. His cock was deep in Zack’s mouth, Lex’s hips jerking gently as he came, unable to stop himself. He slumped over Zack for a moment, then hurriedly pulled up his pants.
Katee fumbled for the doorknob, eyes still closed. “I’m trying!” She wailed, thoroughly scarred by walking in on her boss with his cock down some random dude’s throat. She finally made it outside, slamming the door behind her.
“Oh. My. God.” Lex slumped to the floor, not sure whether to laugh or cry. He was still blushing furiously, burying his head against Zack’s shoulder.
Zack honestly didn't care who came in. It could have been the pope arm and arm with Obama himself and it wouldn't have made a bit of nevermind to him. He groaned at the feel of his lover's seed spilling down his throat and swallowed against him, lapping up every stray drop. A few more teasing little sucks once the girl, Katee, had left and he let Lex slip from his lips, a little smirk upon his face as Lex slumped before him. He knew to laugh and so he did, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand and shaking his head. "You shoulda locked the door, sugar."
God, it had been so long since Zack had called him that...Lex grabbed Zack, kissing him fiercely, practically crawling into his lap.
“Call me that again,” he murmured, begging softly. He wrapped his hand around Zack’s cock, stroking him slowly. “Please, babe, I wanna hear it again.” A tear rolled down his cheek, and he kissed Zack’s cheek, his jaw, nuzzling close as he possibly could.
Zack let one arm wind around Lex's body, the other went to his face, thumb brushing that tear away. "Sugar." he breathed, a little smile slipping over his lips as he brought the both of them backwards onto the floor. "Sugar." he murmured again, leaning in to catch Lex's lips in a kiss.
Lex sprawled over him, kissing him slowly and deeply, still stroking Zack’s cock. All thought of Katee, the embarrassment when he walked out the office, had been forgotten. All that mattered was the man spread out beneath him, half-naked and turned on.
“I love you,” he whispered, brushing their lips together softly at first, then harder, longer. He combed his fingers through Zack’s dirty-blonde hair, body half on top of the other man’s. He felt perfect, felt just as good as Lex remembered.
"Maybe you should lock the door, sugar." he whispered in between kisses, his hips rocking lazily into Lex's grip. "I haven't had sex in seven months and this guy that I love just told me he loves me and has his hand on my cock." he breathed, catching his lips once more in a soft kiss, lingering there for a long moment.
Lex grinned, tightening his grip a little, just to hear Zack gasp. “Well, I think that might be an idea...” he breathed, leaning up on his elbow, still stroking him slowly. “You think you can entertain yourself while I’m over there?” He reluctantly let go of Zack, sliding out of his arms long enough to lock the door. He turned once that was done, leaning against the door, looking down at Zack lying on the floor. He looked utterly gorgeous; golden skin flushed red with arousal, jeans tangled around his knees. He looked completely debauched, and Lex had never wanted him more.
"I think I can try." he murmured, nodding a little and watching as Lex moved to the door to latch it. With his eyes upon him, he smirked a little and began to stroke himself, kicking off his shoes in the process of removing his pants with his free hand. He was all tangled up in denim and his boxers, still managing to touch himself out of sheer desire to please the other man even if it was just visually. "God I've missed you so much." he breathed.
Lex walked back over to him, dropping to his knees between Zack’s thighs, bending down to kiss him. He closed his hand over Zack’s, stroking him faster, wanting to feel him come, wondering if Zack still made that funny little whine in the back of his throat. He shuffled further down, kissing Zack’s stomach, eyes wicked as he looked up at Zack’s face. He’d never been as smooth, as practiced at this as Zack was, but he always loved giving him head.
Closing his lips just over the tip of Zack’s cock, Lex stroked the rest, mouth slowly sinking down as Lex took more of his cock in. He cupped Zack’s balls in his other hand, the tips of his fingers stroking the soft skin behind them.
He might not have been practiced or fluid, but Zack appreciated every little movement that Lex made. Part of it had a lot to do with the fact that he knew he'd been the only guy to ever be in this position with Lex before. Being the only one had an ego boosting quality and had him hardening further at the mere thought. "Fuck." he breathed, his fingers ghosting through Lex's hair, tangling amidst the short strands of peroxide blonde. "I've missed that mouth of yours." he whimpered, hips twitching.
Lex moaned around Zack’s cock, sliding his hand slowly up and down the other man’s thigh. He hadn’t done this in months, but it came back to him easily enough. He loved the weight of Zack’s cock in his mouth, the soft whimpers as he arched up off the floor. He pressed harder with just the tips of his fingers, rubbing at the stretch of skin behind Zack’s balls, swallowing around his cock. He couldn’t take him as deep, but he wrapped his hand around the base, stroking in time with the bobbing of his head.
He wouldn't last long, he knew that much, not when it had been so long. His fingers slid down to the back of Lex's neck and he let out a groan, rocking his hips against his mouth in time with Lex's movements. "Damn, Sugar..." he whispered. "Still as fuckin' sweet as ever."
Groaning, Lex sucked harder, his eyes slipping closed as he got lost in the rhythm, lips meeting his fingers as he took more of Zack’s cock into his mouth. He was sprawled out between the other man’s legs, and there was nowhere else he’d rather be. He slid one hand up Zack’s front, fingers trailing along the lines of his muscles, reaching up to stroke his cheek.
Zack shivered quite visibly as Lex took more of him into his mouth. He could hardly think, his brain just fuzzy and filled with sweet words that he wanted to say but couldn't articulate. He made up for it in soft little moans that gradually became more whining and caught in his throat. "Lex," he gasped, fingers clutching at Lex's hair. "Oh god, sugar, I'm gonna... oh fuck..." he warned, toes curling and hips canting upwards.
Lex groaned encouragingly, cheeks hollowing as he sucked, keeping his eyes on Zack’s face. He cupped his cheek, thumb swiping across Zack’s lower lip, slipping just inside. He wanted to feel Zack come, wanted to taste him. He couldn’t believe how much he’d missed this, how good it felt.
That little teasing way his thumb slid over Zack's lower lip undid him. His lips parted in a strangled whine as his body tensed and his eyes closed. His hips jerked forward and his cock twitched with his release, filling Lex's mouth with what he seemed to ache for so badly. His fingers tensed in Lex's hair, clutching at the strands and holding him there as he trembled through his climax. "Lex..." he gasped out as his body slowly began to calm. Good god, why did he ever let this man walk out that door?
Lex swallowed greedily, humming as he licked Zack’s cock clean. He crawled up Zack’s body, leaning down with a smirk to kiss him softly.
“You ok, babe?” He murmured, brushing Zack’s hair with his fingers, kissing him again. Reality was sinking in now, cold sinking into his gut. He didn’t know where to go from here, whether Zack wanted to be back together, exactly what was going on.
Trembling still, Zack nodded in response to Lex's words. He knew why he was so quiet personally and he was going to have to learn to let his feelings otherwise they'd both be back to where they started. "I'm kind of afraid I'm gonna wake up now." he admitted, whispered words between kisses.
“Me too,” Lex admitted, sitting up. He looked at Zack, torn between lying back down and cuddling into him, and running away to protect himself. Looking around, he grabbed his tshirt, tugging it on. He felt a little more himself with his clothes on, feeling a little less bare in every sense.
“What are we gonna do, then?” He asked softly, sitting with his legs out in front of him, tangled with Zack’s. “I don’t know if I can just go back to how things were.” He had a lot to think about; not least the fact that Zack was immortal.
Zack didn't know how he felt about what Lex had just said. He shrugged slightly, shifting enough that he could pull his pants up and tuck himself away again. Zipping up and buttoning the button, he settled on his knees and brushed his hair out of his face. "Do you not want to be with me?" he asked him finally. "Am I barking up the wrong tree?"
“No, I do,” Lex assured Zack, knowing by now that he wasn’t over him, that he couldn’t resist him again. “I just...I can’t go through that again.” It had just about killed him, leaving last time. He scrubbed his hands through his hair, sighing.
“I need us to take things slow,” he murmured, looking down at his hands. “Let’s just...start with a date, and see where things go from there?”
Zack could understand where Lex was coming from. He was terrified of being hurt again and he couldn't really blame the guy. Honestly he was already doing a hell of a lot better than he knew he deserved. So he nodded a little at Lex's suggestion of a date. A date he could handle. "Okay." he agreed. Shifting a bit, he moved towards Lex, pushing him back onto his back on the floor and straddling the man. Leaning down he caught his mouth in a needful kiss. "A date." he whispered. "I'll do anything you want just so long as you promise me that you won't stop loving me..."
“Never,” Lex answered, promised. He knew he never would - seven months hadn’t made a scrap of difference, after all. He slid his hands slowly up Zack’s back to his shoulder, holding him in place as they kissed.
“There’s a halloween double bill this weekend at the movies,” he murmured, kissing Zack’s forehead. “Ringu and The Ring double feature. You wanna come with me?”
Zack had always been a wimp when it came to horror movies. Maybe something about the graphics or the way things were pieced together, but he always ended up with his face buried against Lex's chest. Which was amusing in a way since he was usually the more dominant and manly one if you will. Still, he wasn't going to miss a chance to spend time with Lex. "Okay." he agreed with a nod, flashing a little smile at the other man as he lifted his head a bit. "By the way, Bethany's in town too."
“Seriously?” Lex grinned, looking down at Zack. “For how long?” He’d missed Bethany most out of their mutual friends; Bethany had been their roommate after all, and Lex had lost count of the number of times the three of them had ended up on the couch watching a crappy film with junk food, piled under blankets and cuddled up together.
"We've been here for a little while." he admitted. "I just... had to get the balls to show up here." he explained. "I'm sorry I missed your birthday." Zack murmured. "But I'm guessing that you got the cupcakes? Did you throw them at the wall or set them on fire?" he questioned, curious just how he'd handled the present.
“Yeah, I got them,” Lex murmured, stroking Zack’s hair, one finger moving to the soft skin behind Zack’s ear again, stroking gently, distractedly.
“I gave them to the staff. No point depriving them of a sugar fix just because I didn’t wanna look at them,” he said, tilting his head to kiss Zack, smiling against his lips. “Thank you, though.” He’d put the card in his pocket, unable to throw it out even if he hadn’t been able to stomach eating any of the cupcakes themselves.
"Guess I'll have to get another batch so you'll eat them this time." he commented, though he did smile regardless. "I shoulda been here for your birthday." he sighed. "I shouldn't have been such a jackass." He shouldn't have let him leave in the first place, but he left that bit out. Cupping Lex's cheek in the palm of his hand, he let out a contented little sigh as he tipped his forehead against his. "I can't believe you really thought I'd cheated on you." he muttered, rolling his eyes a little bit. "Do you have any idea how hot those little noises you make are? Why would I cheat?"
Lex curled his hand around Zack’s wrist, holding his hand in place, closing his eyes slowly. A hint of a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth as he leant his head against Zack’s, stroked his thumb across the back of his hand.
“Because we were in LA,” Lex murmured reluctantly, not wanting to think about it, “and you were surrounded by hot wannabe actors and models. And i’m just a short, chubby geek.” Lex was under no illusions about his own hotness; he’d never been a stud, and he never would be.
“I’m sorry, babe,” he murmured. “But I just kept thinking, why would you put up with me when you could have your pick of them?”
Zack used his other hand to cup Lex's other cheek and leaned in to kiss him again, hips rocking slightly downward to press against his lover. God that friction was delicious. "You're not chubby." he breathed against his mouth. "And I put up with you because I loved you. Because I love you." he explained, reluctantly pulling back from the kiss to look the man in the eye. "Now that you know my secret, that should mean even more because I can live forever and I choose to be with you." he reminded him. "And I'm way hotter than Edward Cullen." he smirked.
Lex couldn’t help but laugh at Zack’s last comment, winding his arms around Zack’s waist.
“Yeah, that’s not hard. The guy looks like he’s run into a wall and squashed his profile,” he replied, kissing Zack sweetly. He tried not to think about everything else that Zack had said; yes, he might choose to be with Lex now, but what happened when he got old? When he wasn’t young and fit anymore, and couldn’t have sex? Lex hoped that was a good few decades off, but even so...he couldn’t trust Zack, not yet, however much he wanted to.
“I gotta get back to work,” he murmured reluctantly, trying to sit up with Zack in his lap, kissing him again and again.
He didn't want to let him go, but he couldn't really make him neglect his work. "You probably have to do damage control with the little one too, huh?" he murmured between kisses as he allowed Lex to sit up a bit. "Promise me that you'll call me tonight when you're done working and I'll leave and not make a scene." he smiled.
Lex groaned and laughed at the same time, hiding his face against Zack’s shoulder. “God, Katee...I’m gonna need to pay for therapy or something,” he chuckles, not really complaining. It was worth it.
“I promise, babe. I’ll call you as soon as I get home.” He digs his phone out of his pocket, handing it to Zack. “Here. Put your number in.” He’d deleted Zack’s number - didn’t even know if he had the same phone - and he’d gotten a new one when he’d moved to DC himself.
Zack smiled and programmed his number in the phone, handing it back only once he'd called his own so he'd have Lex's number too. "Better keep your promises, sugar." he murmured. "I know where you work and I'm not opposed to scarring the rest of your employees. You couldn't handle the therapy bills for all of them." he teased as he leaned in for another kiss.
Lex just laughed, giddy and terrified and exhausted all at once. He didn’t know how he felt, how he should be feeling. All that mattered was that he had Zack, here, in his arms.
“I’ll call,” he assured Zack, giving him one last kiss before sliding out from underneath him, standing. He ran a hand through his hair, trying to sort it, trying to look slightly less like he’d been fucking in his office, before giving it up as a lost cause.
Zack stood up and looked around for his shirt, pulling it over his head and trying to straighten it a bit though it didn't really help. Slipping his shoes on as well, he combed his fingers through his hair and let his eyes wander over Lex. "You know you're pretty sexy when you're all disheveled." he murmured as he moved close to the man and pulled him by his shirt hem into another kiss. "Be alone when you call me." he smirked.
Lex laughed, even as he blushed, looking down at his feet. He was caught a little off balance as Zack tugged on his shirt, falling against him as they kissed.
“I remember what you’re like, babe,” Lex murmurs. “I wasn’t planning on calling you with an audience.” Many was the time Zack had called him at work, leaving him red-faced and achingly hard, stuck in the office until he calmed down.
“C’mon, I’ll walk you out.” Maybe he could get away without anyone noticing. Maybe he could bribe Katee to keep quiet...
"Good." Zack murmured, stealing one more kiss. "Because I have seven months of pent up sexual frustration and I want to tell you all about how many different ways I'd like to fuck you." he whispered, deliberately teasing Lex with his voice low and his lips so close to his. "Yeah, walk me out. If you can walk straight." he teased, biting his lower lip through a grin as he reluctantly pulled away from Lex and turned towards the exit.
“Oh, you are evil,” Lex growled, following Zack to the office door, reaching around him to unlock it. “Go on,” he murmured, smacking Zack gently on the ass. “Get out’f here.” He walked Zack to the front entrance, too shy to kiss him again with half the staff watching them. Oh good. Looked like it wasn’t really a secret, then.
Zack walked to the front of the store and then turned to Lex. "Please call me." he said once more as he backed towards the door. "I'll be waiting."
“I will,” Lex promised, smiling hesitantly. “I’ll call you tonight.” Watching Zack go, he sighed, finally turning back to the desk. His assistant manager was standing there, arms folded, smirking at him.
“Oh, shut up,” Lex muttered, though he was grinning as he jogged past, heading for the stairs, and hopefully, a very brief conversation with Katee.
