So Much for a Quiet Drink
Who: Colin and Antoinette
What: Out at the bar
When: Saturday night
Where: The Rusty Starfish (a dive bar)
Warning: No idea. Language at least.
Colin hadn't gone out very much since moving to Toronto, but he had found a bar he liked. It was seedy dive close to the lake front, called The Rusty Starfish. No idea why, since they weren't anywhere near the ocean or anyplace there were starfish, but it definitely had caught his attention. It was the type of bar that only served cheap beer and hard liquor and the bartender's idea of mixed drink was putting an egg and tomato juice into a beer.
It was dark and quiet. Colin ignored the shadier things going on around him, content to nurse his beer and mind his own business. He was a bit cleaner and younger than the bar's average patron, but since he didn't seem to want to make any trouble, he'd been left alone.
This probably wasn't what his sister had in mind when she wanted him to take a weekend off, but it was about as close to going out as he felt. Maybe when he finished his beer, he'd cue up a game of pool or something. He was in a good mood because he'd managed to hire somebody who could handle it if he wolfed out on him by accident. Things were looking up, really.
