Max didn't like this. Thing hadn't been this bad when he and Jayne had gotten there, but they were definitely heating up outside. "Looks like they're calling it an early night, Princess," he observed, fingers of his right hand wandering back towards the back of his belt out of habit. Of course, there was nothing there to grab. He hadn't even brought a knife this time. Which meant Murphy's Law applied and there was a riot starting up outside. Time to find the fastest way out that wasn't the front door.
He'd cased the place a few times out of habit, but most of the exits were surrounded. When the bouncers formed up, the big Indian guy taking the lead, he liked this even less. "Okay, let's go. This might get ugly-" Max's statement was cut off as one of the idiots outside smacked the big Native American guy with something and he dropped like a rock. All hell proceeded to break out outside immediately afterwards.
"Shit!" Max cursed. Now he was probably going to have to fight their way out. While Jayne knew he was a hunter and had been trained all of his life to kill, she had never seen him in action. This wasn't a good thing, but if the exits were blocked, it wasn't a choice. He started looking around for weapons of opportunity, since he hadn't brought any. Phee would so chew his ass if she found out. Jesus.
