How unfortunate. The surface was sometimes a wildly complicated place for her to comprehend. Though they were on the same page with that. Even if lawyers and politicians had bad reputations, she'd met more kind people than unkind people, and that was enough to make her believe that most people had good intentions, even if sometimes they didn't come off that way. "I do too. Sometimes I have to believe it, when it becomes difficult to see it in practice." There was a lot of ugliness out there, and often directed towards them.
Parthenope nodded. She could understand that sentiment. Loneliness was often temporary, even if it didn't feel that way in the moment. "I would venture that loneliness doesn't last long in a place like this. There are so many places in town to be with people at any time of the day or night, you know?" It was a huge selling point for her. And it wasn't like being in a big city where that was true but you were more likely than not going to sit around a bunch of strangers. Here you'd be among friends and neighbors and it was unlikely you wouldn't run into at least one friendly face to assuage your loneliness.
"Oh goodness, no. I hope not," she laughed, pulling at her drink through the straw. "I haven't injured anyone yet, so..." she rapped her fingers against the counter, "knock on wood, as they say." Oh it was just so nice to have plans with friends. She grinned brightly with an affirmative nod. "Any afternoon you have a big planting job, give me a call, I'll be right over in my messy clothes."
