"Thank you, Ms. Jayati," Dae gave a slight bow in sign of respect once they were sequestered safely behind her office door and the strange glow to the walls. That part made Dae a little wide-eyed with wonder, but she kept her focus on the matter at hand, not one for distractions.
"My name is Daenna Lao. I've been sent by the leader of the Mariana Trench, my mother, Kuzel." Dae's tone of voice was matter-of-fact, to the point. "We were attacked by imps a few days ago and suffered losses to our structures and, more importantly, to our nursery." With how long mermaids lived, the loss of such young ones was a heavy thing to bear. They'd also lost several males in the attack and they had been invaluable caretakers of the new fry.
Dae swallowed, the motion the only thing revealing the emotion behind her words as she relayed her story. "Kuzel sent me to search out if there's any truth in the rumor that a resistance is forming on the surface." Of course, Parthenope had already confirmed this, but Dae continued her practiced speech. "I've heard from a reliable source that you are a part of this movement and I would like to formally request a place in the ranks to help in whatever way I can. Events on the surface have a way of reaching even the depths of the Trench. I would do whatever it takes to keep my people from suffering another attack."
Dae nodded curtly when she was finished and stood straight backed in front of Jayati, not taking the offered chair just yet.
