In literally just about any other situation Matt wasn't the guy you had to worry about being unsupervised. He could clearly take care of himself, just by looking at him without knowing his background. That was the way that Matt liked it too, he wanted to look like he could handle things and then really surprise you with how well he could actually handle it. That mentality of always wanting to prove himself had never left him since he was a teenager. Granted it ebbed and flowed to various degrees over his life, but it was always there in some way shape or form. However, this community...it was another beast entirely. Literally and figuratively and he wouldn't totally blame someone for thinking that way about him. Well, maybe just a little bit out of sheer ego.
"...So you're a hip-" he just seemed to stop talking there for a moment as he watched what Kenna was doing and he couldn't help but his eyes go a little wide. The man had seen his share of disasters, injuries, and down right disturbing things and kept a straight face. This, however, was something that he had to blink a few times for his brain to really process. Somehow his best friend turning into a dog and ferret didn't phase him as much as this did. Maybe because really after everything Nuno had ever said him turning into a dog was the least surprising thing about him? "Yeah. I can't do that." he said on autopilot trying to wrap his head around that. "But," he cleared his throat after a second. "that's pretty bad ass though." he finished after thinking about that for a second.
"Yeah, I've been there actually. I helped my sister move out there when she got into Stanford and we took a day trip. It's a decent size even with tourists, people being around is still people being around. I mean it's not Brooklyn, but if it's the biggest you know." he shrugged again trying to sympathize a little bit. "Oh. Yeah," he said feeling a little stupid at the moment. He used the bloody phone, but there was something really nostalgic about using a road map when you didn't have to be somewhere in a hurry. That and it drove Val crazy, so that was also a reason to do it. "that's pretty cool too. I was raised on them, so I guess the habit stuck." he grinned a bit more letting her know that it was okay to laugh a bit, he didn't mind too much. He knew he could be an old man at times.
"Oh yeah? What are you going for?" he asked as he caught up. "Nuno Chavez?" he replied wondering how it was possible to live here and not know him. Yeah, he didn't live-live here, but the man had a way to make his presence known. And Matt loved that about him. Most of the time. He at least recognized that the man had a big pair.
