Matt could feel his eyes grow wide with that answer, he honestly had not expected that kind of answer. Or that fasted paced. And he was used to Nuno's long answers. This just felt different and not because it wasn't riddled with swearing. Matt made a mental note to watch his language more than he already was around people he didn't know all that well. "I...see." he replied as he furrowed his brow trying to take all of that answer in and file it away for some possible later use. Maybe, who knew, stranger things had happened. But he did pick up on one thing she said and stuck on it. Dryad. Well, that was a new one for him. Right now he was wishing he had paid more attention when Mia was in her fairy tale/mythology mode, because he was drawing a blank at the moment. "Dryad?" he asked though, not unkindly. He was sure it came off more stupid than anything else, because sometimes, this place just did that to him. He was still trying to figure out what was real and what wasn't. That and he honestly did not have a hard time admitting that he did not know something. He had met plenty of people who did that and they came off more of an ass than anything. And really, he figured that attitude could be just dangerous here. Save the deadpan and sarcasm for when he was a bit more comfortable.
"Small town then?" he asked wondering what that might be like to be from somewhere small. And not for the first time, when he was overseas he often wondered when traveling through hamlets what it might be like to be from a place like that, even if he never said it aloud, at least not to anyone who would give him shit for it. "New York isn't so bad once you get the hang of it. But, I get it, it can be overwhelming at first." he remembered coming home for the first time after being gone for a few years and being able to see that through someone else's eyes. "But yeah, maps are awesome, I think I might be one of the few people who still keep that Triple A road map of the States in their car." he chuckled a little bit. "Where do you go to school?" he wondered as he tried to figure out who this person was walking with him.
"Yes." he replied to what his preference was. Honestly, he didn't care at the moment, food was food. "But flaming hot Cheetos does sound good." he rubbed the back of his short hair for a moment before shoving his hands back into his pocket to keep them warm. He made a mental note to get more of those pocket hand warmers next time he was at the store. "Naw, been in AC for a few years now, but I took a bit of a hiatus to deal with some family stuff. Been back for about a month." he said keeping it light not really wanting to get into all the details. He barely wanted to talk about it with his best friend, there was no way he was talking about it with a stranger. "So, I guess just here. I found the place a while ago for a buddy of mine, but, never actually been here until about a month ago." he was having trouble admitting why, but, he was at least making small progress with that.
