One of the things that Matt was grateful for was that he was well practiced in being able to read people. It was a skill that had developed since an early age when he had to learn to decided when Natalie was messing with him or not, and then had just developed all of these years later. It was one of the things he never really thought of when he thought of his skills that he developed, though. Shooting, athletic ability, intellect, those were all things that he thought of when he thought of training. Since now this was all second hand to him. That being said, he was taken aback for a moment by this tiny person in front of him. Matt wasn't the tallest person in the world, barely reaching over six foot, but he wasn't short either. And really, he knew he had some bulk on him that made him seem bigger than he was. That and he'd been told, several times, that he carried himself like an asshole with too much self importance. If that was true or not, Matt wasn't sure, but right now he was trying to make a point of that not showing up.
Matt blinked a few times to get his brain going. He wasn't used to people being so open and friendly with him, unless they were drunks he was dealing with in the wee hours of the morning. And at the moment, he didn't think that this person was drunk. He certainly didn't smell anything along those lines. It wasn't that he didn't think that people were incapable of being good and friendly. Far from it, he very much knew that. This time it was just more or less that he had gotten off from work not that long ago and he was still getting out of Cop-Mode Matthew at the moment.
"Hello." he repeated himself forcing himself to take a relaxing breath as he shoved his hands into his jacket pockets again. Honestly, after growing up in Brooklyn one would think that he would learn to keep gloves on him. At her question Matt shrugged his shoulder's a bit. "Yeah, sort of." he responded. He had known about this place before hand, but this was one of the first times he'd really chosen to explore it. "First time really taking time to figure out where things are." he decided on a moment later, figuring that might sound a little better. And give detail without having to get into the long of the short of it at the moment. It wasn't that he was totally opposed to telling people, he was going to have to eventually, it was just that she was a complete stranger and she seemed so nice. It would be a shame to have the big bad wolf scare her off. Actually, it would just be down right rude.
"Matt." he introduced himself. "I take it you're familiar with this place then?" he asked figuring it was a natural follow up question.
