Danny collapsed down to sit on his heels after she released him and turned away. His knees were weak and he was shaking badly, but he raised his head to watch her walk away from him, feeling the sting of the insult deeply. He bared his teeth at her back, since he didn't have the courage to do it to her face.
"Look who's talking," he muttered in a low enough voice that he hoped she didn't overhear, but would satisfy his floundering ego. He put a hand on his chest to feel his rapidly beating heart and took several deep breaths. Danny tried not to think about how close he'd come to being another dragon's dinner.
His hand clenched into a fist and he glared at the corner where she'd disappeared, snarling under his breath. "This isn't fucking over."
