Bet your ass that this shit's gonna hurt
1/14 8AM
Danny ✦ Jayati
Talk about starting off on the wrong...claw PG-13 at least ongoing |
Sweets For My Sweets was surprisingly already becoming a frequent stop for Jayati. That might change once the Winter passed. But while she wouldn't say she was solar powered like some silly iguana that required a lamp, Jayati did prefer the warmth of the sun over cloudy days with precipitation as erratic as only the weather could be. At least in Nepal the Monsoon season was consistent, along with the snow in the mountains. Infinitely better than the winters here that seemed unsure when they wanted to start or stop, like a shitty lawn mower. But it was 8AM and the shop was crowded, to the point where Jayati found herself in a line that actually extended beyond the doors of the place, leaving her and a few others outside in the cold. Well, not too much cold, really, as there were sidewalk tables and someone had installed space heaters above them in the overhang coming from the roof. So she didn't mind waiting, even if, In the end, she still felt like an iguana after all. Today she needed to stop by the Mayor's office. Update her on her new Intelligence team along with the latest information she had gathered on the Malcontents. It was going to be tedious and filled with bureaucratic bullshit but at least it was an evil she knew. Evil. Pah. Sometimes she missed the smell of Napalm in the morning, at least then she knew where the enemy was, who they were and the distinct lines between them. She pulled gloved hands from the pockets of her worn leather jacket, fingers twitching, hair suddenly standing on end and thoughts yanked from their train so they could take a backseat to old and instincts for one brief beat of her still calm heart. The presence she had felt a few days ago and couldn't not stay aware of in some part of her mind was suddenly approaching behind her. Part of her, some ancient part that predated her parents and the names for the land where she was hatched wanted to snap and snarl at him for invading her territory. But the rest waited, curious, and rational enough to know her shifting on main Street to teach the invader a lesson in respect wouldn't exactly help morale. |
