Patrols
Characters: Jaime, Drew
When: 10:30 PM or so
Location: near the bridge
Her singing voice wasn't the best in the world. It was passable, mostly on-key, but she also didn't much care. If someone didn't want to have their ears assaulted, they could move away. Keep on walking. She did at least try not to start it up when she was around people, but during barrier patrols, all bets were off. Usually she had company, and usually she was chatting instead of singing, but tonight her usual partner wasn't around so she was flying solo. Which was fine; everything seemed to be in pretty good shape in her section. She'd meant to start on it sooner, but she hadn't, which was why it was after ten (and the time she was usually in bed with her Kindle) and she was still strolling along the barrier near the bridge. One ear was plugged with an earbud though the other was left free in case someone or something needed her attention; she didn't want to wander obliviously into an accident or something. But there wasn't much of anyone around, so she was singing along with the music in her ear. "I don't wanna let you gooooo but I can't stand to watch this..." The volume was moderate - not belting, slightly below speaking volume, since it was mostly for herself anyway. "I don't wanna let you knooooow but you can read my mind, I, feel it all the time, I felt it -" And then she fell quiet as one of the rings on her finger warmed slightly. Given the position, she knew it was the vampire one, and she turned her head slightly to see if she could figure out who was around to be triggering it. Someone she knew? Some stranger? By now, she knew most people who lived regularly on the island, but it wasn't like they never got newcomers. It was happening more and more, lately. Especially here, since so many found gainful employment in Atlantic City. She, personally, wasn't a great fan of using their gifts to fuck with humans, but that was mostly because she didn't want a pack of hunters descending on them. Talk about chaos. But some did, and it wasn't like they were the police or anything so she didn't say anything about that. She just didn't hang out with those sorts. Either way, pale blue eyes scanned the surrounding area to see if she could spot whomever was triggering her ring, or if someone was playing with her. |
