An unaccustomed frown (to those who didn't know him well at least) flickered across Fred's face as he tidied up his workspace. The journal Remus had dropped off had been here a few days ago, but now it was gone. A quick look around the office showed no signs of it, and after he checked with George (who was working upstairs) the mystery deepened.

"Oi, Ver!" he said, coming out into the shop proper and noticing that there weren't any customers. Business had been off ever since the coup. He'd have thought people would want to laugh, but even the orders from Hogwarts were down significantly.

	Slow days were boring. Thankfully, she'd brought Mickey with her again today and she was being thoroughly entertained- well, rather, she had been before the little girl had fallen asleep behind the counter. And now Verity was bored again. Which was why she was incredibly thankful when Fred came bounding down the stairs and into the shop. "What's up, Weasley?" (Reply to this) (Thread)

"Have you seen a journal? It's a prototype I'm working on," he lied, giving her an easy grin. "It's about yay big ..."

He described it quickly, hoping it didn't sound off or that he didn't sound too anxious. He had enough experience with lying to know how to do it correctly and without getting cuaght, but normally the only people who'd get hurt if he was caught was himself. Or George, which really amounted to the same thing most days. This time though ...

	Sold. Sold? Well, fuck. Fred ran a hand over his hair, giving his employee a quick smile. "Well, like as not we'll get a complaint from the person who bought it. It probably won't work correctly." He peered at her. "Hmmm, don't be so sure about that," he said, lifting a hand. "I think I see something right .... there."

He poked her right in the forehead, gently though, and grinned. Leaning over, he handed her a Mischievous Mirror, which not only commented on one's appearance but also added wrinkles, warts, boils, and a plethora of other fun attributes. "See?"
