RP: Celebratory drinks

Date: 26 September 1997
Characters: Janelle Dorny, Caleb Warington
Location: TBD
Status:  Semi-public -- if you're out and about feel free to ping and drop in
Summary: Caleb takes Janelle out to celebrate her new job
Completion: Complete

Caleb tapped on Janelle's door.  He was surprised at himself for going out on two separate nights in the same week, but he had promised Janelle drinks.  And he did intend to build a private life.

Yep.  This was what he needed to keep from going mad chasing after the most incompetent criminals in Britian.

Dancing? Why did girls all want to go dancing? First it was Verity and now Janelle. Caleb carefully didn't sigh even though he wanted to.

"Charybdis?" he offered as that was the only place he knew of that had dancing. At least he knew that the firewhiskey was good there.

"Sounds good to me," Janelle grinned big as she took his hand leading him outside of her flat. Janelle closed the door behind her. "Thank you for going out with me tonight I definitely need it." Not that work had been hard but she really wanted to celebrate it. She was very glad that she had her job and that was why she wanted to go and celebrate.

"No need to thank me, Janelle," he said as she tugged him along, "it's my pleasure." He was pleased for her and she seemed happy enough about her job at the Prophet.

"How are you getting along with the news hounds? Do you have them wrapped around your little finger yet?"

"Oh no, not yet, but soon." Janelle said with a wicked smile. "Don't worry I will though, because how could I not?" She asked with an amused tone. Janelle had a smile that just couldn't seem to be shaken from her lips as she tugged him along.

"So how was work Caleb?" She asked looking over at him. She felt really antsy and like she had a lot of energy to burn on the dance floor.

"Busy. I think they're shifting extra duties onto the Hit Wizards from other deparments." He shrugged; it was annoying but everyone had to do their part in this new ministry. "But at least my training period is nearly up."

He eyed her. How much coffee had she had today? She was practically vibrating.

"Well that is unfair, but I suppose there is little you can do about it." Janelle shrugged her shoulders, she really didn't know the inner workings of the Ministry worked but if it was like any other job the lowest always got the brunt of it. "Well we shall have to celebrate when your training period is done."

He nodded. "That would be good. It'll have be after I recover from the official celebration of my graduation. After the old hands are done with me, I don't know if I'll be fit company for anyone."

Once they were outside, he wrapped an arm around her waist and Apparated them to just outside the club.

"Well as long as we get to celebrate at least a little," she grinned at him as they went outside and she realized just how cool it was in the evening of late September. She felt his arm around her and she leaned into him, and with that they were gone.

"Warn a girl next time," she laughed jokingly, as she smiled up at him before looking around the outside of the club. Janelle was truly itching to get a drink or two down her and get onto that dance floor.

"What's the fun in that?" Caleb grinned at her and led her through the doors. He looked around. There was little difference to the music or the clientele, which made sense has it had only been a few days since he was in here.

"Drinks first? Or dancing?" There was only the barest wince when he said that dreaded word. However well his last dance had gone, Verity had certainly not cured him of his dislike of the activity.

"Well just don't do it to an old gal you might give her a heart attack," she nudged him but was easily lead through the door hearing the music which definitely just made her want to dance. Caleb was going to be dragged to the dance floor soon enough.

"Drinks first I think," she said with a grin feeling the need to get a little liquored up before she went out on the dance floor.

Drinks were good. He could do drinks without potential embarrassment. Once at the bar, he ordered a pint and then looked to Janelle. "What do you want?"

What did she want to drink, "You know I think I will have the same," she decided it would be a nice change from the wine she had been drinking. "Then we are going to go dancing," Janelle said with a sly grin.

"Can't we just drink?" he asked mournfully, knowing full well that yet again he would lose this argument. Once they had their pints in hand, he led the way to an empty table.

"Nope, I have wanted to go dancing for weeks," she was quite serious about this statement. She followed behind him to the table sitting down taking a drink from her pint. "Come on I will be fun to dance with I promise." She just hoped she didn't get to drunk in the process.

"If you say so." He took a deep pull from his pint. If he was going to actually spend an evening dancing, he was going to need liquid fortification. Somehow he doubted this evening would end up like that last one.

"Have you seen any of the others? Other than you and Verity, I've not seen any of our yearmates."

"I do say so," she took another drink from her pint. "You now I actually haven't seen many of them. I ran into Adrian Pucey but that is about it, I haven't even seen Verity," it was admittedly a little sad that she had not seen many of the people from school. "I ran into Melinda Bobbin and Roger Davies, of course I did go to her party so I saw a few faces there."

"There was a party?" He was the last to learn anything. "Wait, you went a party thrown by Melly Bobbin? In Merlin's name why?"

"Yes there was a good one too," Janelle thought back fondly on the memories. "I spent the evening drinking wine and eventually with lips locked to Roger Davies," Janelle laughed a little at the thought and she had not even seen him since, not that she cared. "I went because I was bored, there is a serious amount of things lacking on the entertainment front."
