If you were a Pureblood of the upper class, it was generally expected that you would marry another Pureblood of the upper class and have lovely little Pureblood babies to carry on the family name and such.

And if, by a certain age, you were not dating, at least, these lovely Pureblood witches...well, your mother would intervene and set you up. Adrian could not count the number of dates he had been on because of his mother, and none of them had ended well. And this one wouldn't either, he was sure of it.

His mother hadn't even told him who the bird was, he thought with a sullen frown, just what restaurant she had made the reservations at, when they were for, and to please Adrian Nicholas wear your best cufflinks.

Which, of course, he was. He did like looking his best, after all. And so here he was, sitting at the table and waiting for whichever Miss Merry Sunshine he had a date with this evening.

He managed to return the smirk as they ate, and watched her very carefully. She had to be doing some of those little things on purpose. Had to. And now he was the one fidgeting in his chair, and he really didn't like that she had somehow gotten the upper hand.

When the dessert tray came, he eyed it carefully. There was some yummy looking chocolate thing with melted sauce all over it, and he pointed to that, raising his eyebrows at Alicia.

"Look good?"

"Well, that all depends." He finished his last glass of wine and leaned forward a bit, considering her carefully. "We're not finished here yet. These last few minutes whilst we eat dessert might be crucial." He gave her a serious nod.

Then his face broke into a genuine grin- not a smirk, a real smile. "Course, I'll probably just tell her whatever gets her off my back."

	"Oh, absolutely," she said. "Make or break." And then he smiled, which transformed his face, and to her surprise, she found herself smiling back. "Well, that I can understand," she said. "I'll probably be telling my mother much the same." Their eyes met, and she found herself oddly comfortable with him. Which was just so fucked up as to not be reasonable. 	Clearing his throat, he looked over at the dessert the waiter was placing on the table. That was- a comfortable moment. Which was interesting. He'd have to save that to think about later. There was something in his gaze that made her bite back the obvious retort that he should go first then in that case, and instead, she leaned forward, and closed her mouth over his fork, steadying it by putting her fingers on his wrist.

The chocolate was warm and tasted completely well... sinful. And she made a satisfied sound before leaning back in her chair.

"Very satisfying. Do you want to try?"

Her fingers felt overly warm on his wrist and he kept his eyes on her. She made another of those noises, although he couldn't blame her because the cake looked fucking incredible. It was chocolate after all.

"Absolutely. But first-" He reached out with one finger, not certain what was prompting him to do so, and got a tiny smudge of chocolate off the edge of her mouth.

Then licked it off his finger, before waiting patiently for her to reciprocate with a bite of cake for him.

It was good she was sitting down, because this entire thing was ridiculous. Later, they'd have a good laugh about it (separately and after they'd fought).

He'd touched her... it felt strange too. Because she sort of hadn't minded.

And this was just ridiculous, feeding each other cake, because it was what idiots did that were into hearts and flowers and all of that. One thing though she had to say, her crap day, her crap week? Temporarily forgotten.

She reached for the fork, then, on second consideration, took a piece with her fingers and held it out to him, slowly bringing it to his mouth.

"You like your sweets, don't you?"

	She'd just upped the ante. And so naturally, Adrian would reciprocate. "Love them," he said quite seriously. "Junk food fiend." And maybe he 'accidentally' drew her fingers into his mouth along with the piece of cake, but that was all right because he licked the chocolate off of them. Slowly. Okay fuck, this, whatever they were doing? Stupidest idea ever. Especially when he stomach was in her knees just now or rather other parts of her.

Why had she done that, and why was his mouth so bloody hot?

"You could always get some to go." She took another piece in her fingers and picked it up, eating it herself and licking her own fingers clean. Surely they were scandalizing people in the restaurant, but well... she was still reeling from what had just happened.

	His eyes followed her fingers closely, and he made no attempt to hide his gaze. She somehow had him rather...worked up. So to speak. He wasn't sure yet if he liked it or not. 	Silently, Adrian signaled the waiter over and asked him to box up what was left of their cake- and an extra serving of the chocolate sauce. His eyes never left hers the entire time. When the waiter brought it back (Adrian having discreetly paid the cheque at the same time) he took the box, standing and looking down at her. "Coming?" (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Alicia could barely breathe the entire time she sat there waiting, because she was completely utterly freaking out at this... whatever it was and at the same time she was standing up, her fingers lacing through his as he helped her up.

"I suppose that depends," she said quietly, her body brushing his as she stood up.

Somehow they made it out of the restaurant and up the pavement. And naturally her flat was just a couple of blocks away. She'd dropped his hand to pick up her purse, and the two of them walked quietly, silently, no one around barely at all.

"I live just up there," she indicated, looking over at him. "Do we... do you..."
