Dahlia smiled softly. "Okay, I think it would feel a little strange to go by the surname to be honest." she continued with a light laugh "I don't think I've really been that formal with anyone since I was in school myself." she hadn't really had formal jobs of any kind and everyone at the community center was pretty much on first names only. Even her boss though they weren't very formal about that boss title either.
Glancing around the room, Dahlia could see what Jaime meant. She wouldn't say that she had looked that interested either but she had looked like she wasn't sure what she should be doing so that probably counted. Plus it wasn't that she wasn't interested, more she wasn't really sure what to ask about. Just school things. Other things. She always got a little flustered in moments like these, though she was attempting to appear a little calmer than she felt. "For most of them this is probably just repetitive." Dahlia offered, maybe someday she'd feel that way about it all. But she doubted it.
Dahlia quickly nodded her head "Oh of course, I have a hard enough time keeping track of one let alone a hundred or more." she couldn't even imagine "It's nice to know that there are some comments though and things like that." nice to know that if something were going on and she wasn't aware, that maybe the school would be and would tell her. She didn't want to be that out of the know with TJ but...he was a kid still. There were going to be times he evaded her.
"Sorry, Elise." Dahlia clarified "I thought I overheard her mentioning it but I'm not sure. I'd think it would be good for her though. More ways to meet people and everything." plus, selfishly, Dahlia liked the idea of knowing that maybe Elise and TJ would be going home together from the class if she didn't happen to be working that day, so she'd know he wasn't alone.
Dahlia's features pinched slightly when Jaime looked away. She didn't know what the reaction was for, but Dahlia immediately thought it was perhaps because she should be pressing TJ and she hadn't. Dahlia opened her mouth to speak but closed it, taking a deep breath. "I try to let him know, but I hadn't thought about the emailing option. I mean...he knows he can message Jake that way if he needs him or anything but I should make it clear he could email me too, if it’s easier." because she did get that, that sometimes face to face was much harder.
Reaching up, Dahlia tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and tried not to fidget. "I have concerns that are usual for his...situation. For our situation." but it wasn't exactly usual for a child in general. She knew he was handling Dai's death as best he could but she was always going to be worried about it. How he was doing. How they were both managing..
“I don’t know that he needs it anymore than any other kid…” she clarified “….but being new to all this, having a second set of eyes watching out for him isn’t a bad thing.” Or maybe third? Since Jake was trying to watch out for him too.
