Line 1. Historical setting. Either Tudors era or Victorian.
A nobleman whose wife recently died seeks comfort and visits a brothel house, where among women, he meets a young rentboy, whose mother was a courtesan and who upon her death, was taken in by the brothel's owner. The nobleman is curious to see the youth in such place, the conversation follows and the two end up spending the night together. The nobleman falls in love with the rentboy, and they fight to be together despite of the difference in their social standing and their love being forbidden in society outside the walls of the brothel.

Line 2. The year is 1523. The place: Calais, north of France. English and Flemish troops are invading France. A high-ranking commander is saved by a young soldier while in a battle. They start an unlikely friendship, and become close, which eventually leads to a few nights in each other's arms before their return home to England. The commander is a married man, famous at court in London. The soldier is a simple shepherd from Yorkshire. They lose all contact as they both go back to their lives. Ten years later, the king orders the commander to lead his army to crush a peasant rebellion in Yorkshire and kill the rebellion leaders setting a fearful example. The soldier, has joined the rebels and has been arrested by the king's forces, he is led before the commander who recognizes him and has to decide on his fate.
