I can't believe it is almost Halloween.  It feels like summer just started.  I used to love Halloween when I was a kid.  If we were house bound,  Mom and Dad would do it up with the best decorations. If we were traveling, we'd always find a place to trick or treat. It was one of the few times that we felt like a normal family.

I miss that.

Anyone already planning their costumes? Parties? Haunted Houses?

Do you ever wonder how different your life would be if you had done one tiny little thing different? Zigged where you should have zagged? Maybe somewhere there is a universe where I'm teaching History and raising 2.5 kids with a spouse in a tiny little house.

I don't know what would make my parents prouder.

The fact that I just had to chase down a naked car thief or that he actually managed to get one over on me. I've forgotten how much broken ribs hurt. It's good to be back and getting to take a shower in a bathroom that doesn't look like it might have once been a crime scene.

I can't decide what I want now. Booze or to go to sleep.
