SUP EVERYONE. This is Lucy (~tinmiss; I have Hestia and Atropos thus far!) with ~two more~ characters. :)
FIRST UP, IN THIS JOURNAL: Morpheus! One of the many (MANY) children of Nyx and Erebus, Morpheus is the eldest of the triplets known as the Oneiroi, along with Phobetor and Phantasos. Together they are the attendants of their elder brother Hypnos, god of sleep. Morpheus leads the Oneiroi, and is known as "The King of Dreams" or "Oneiros" because of it. In turn, he is led by Hypnos, for the Oneiroi bring dreams to those who fall under the power of Sleep. Hypnos, Morpheus would like to point out, does not have a hand in the dreams given. When Hypnos asks for something, the Oneiroi will usually give it, but they are the ones who craft the dreams, and unless the gods have a message to be given, they are allowed to do as they will, in their own kingdom.
The land of dreams (Demos Oneiroi) was located somewhere in the underworld. Poets often referred to the two gates leading from the dream realm. One gate was fashioned of sawn ivory, the other of polished horn. False dreams were said to pass through the gate of ivory, while truthful, prophetic dreams winged their way out through the gate of horn. There was also said to be a wilted elm tree in Morpheus' domain, upon which the dreams fashioned by the Oneiroi hung, with the appearance of winged phantom-shapes. There were also two monsters created for Morpheus by Phobetor who guarded the dream world from all but the gods; the monster would turn into the fears of any who tried to trespass. Granted, no hero has yet to attempt to trespass, and even if they wished to, they would need to get into the underworld, which is well-guarded in its own right, but Morpheus believes in "better safe than sorry". Heroes are always trying to get where they ought not be; he does not want to have to deal with fetching them out of his kingdom, thanks so much.
Morpheus concentrates on the human elements of dreams. His brothers Phobetor and Phantasos are responsible for animals and inanimate objects, respectively. Phobetor specializes in nightmares; Phantasos specializes in weird, fantastical dreams. Morpheus, for his part, specializes in visions, messages with meaning. He is also the one who leads; Morpheus is fairly lax in regards to his brothers, giving them a great deal of free reign as they weave dreams together, but he is the one who gives dreams their direction, the conductor of their concerted efforts. Pure nightmares for no reason are generally dreams in which Morpheus allowed Phobetor to lead; strange dreams without much meaning to be found were those led by Phantasos. Morpheus rarely treats his brothers as mere lackeys, although he is in charge, and does expect them to follow his direction when he has it. Morpheus will reign them in when he sees necessary - most usually in regards to what they say to others, and most usually with the more aggressive Phobetor - but is willing to listen to their thoughts, should they feel like sharing them. A truly equal relationship is impossible, when Morpheus is capable of controlling either of his brothers without a second thought, but their kingdom and relationship has always been a peaceful one. It works, and has for a long time.
PERSONALITY WISE, Morpheus is super calm, and probably the most ~balanced~ of the Oneiroi. He very, very rarely loses his temper, and his brothers probably prefer he does not. He is also completely passive aggressive when he's annoyed. How, you ask? WELL, if you are a god asking for a dream-vision to go to your follower, and it's important, and YOU TICK HIM OFF, it'll probably be super confusing and useless until after the fact. :Db If you're a reincarnate, you might get night terrors for a few weeks. :( THAT SAID, Morpheus is pretty hard to tick off. The only surefire ways to do it are to try to order Phobetor/Phantasos around (THEY'RE HIS TO ORDER AROUND, even if he doesn't do it often) unless you are Hypnos (who is allowed), or somehow irritating him in regards to either of those three. :(
His alias is JASPER CRANE, who works at a used bookstore part-time. While he does not technically need to sleep, and is immune to Hypnos' sleep, Morpheus can be found dozing in the bookshop where he works. It makes it easier to do his divine work while he is doing his mortal work. He also has a slow, sleepy way of talking that is particularly calming to mortals - and it always seems strangely familiar, although no one can ever place why. MORPHEUS PUT THE BARE MINIMUM EFFORT INTO HIS ALIAS, OKAY. He's always more interested in working than he is, you know, anything else (which might be why his romantic relationship score: 0).
SECOND UP, at ~arbitrates, is PARIS! Yes, THAT Paris. The golden apple, Helen, the Trojan war - you all know him, so he does not need to be explained as much (...I like talking about Morpheus).
Paris was reincarnated as Alexander Evans, although you can totally call him Alex. :) He was raised by his grandparents (he usually doesn't talk about his parents, but they're both dead, so there) and still goes to visit them every Sunday for church / dinner. Alex is always willing to chat about his grandparents! They're awesome.
He grew up being involved in sports (although it should be noted he preferred the positions that weren't, like, front and center, but the middle or outfield things, and also HE IS AN AWESOME SNIPER re: laser tag, it's super annoying to play against him but if you're on his team you adore him, obviously), but Alex also tended to get good grades, and he was pretty popular. He was always social, and added to the rest of it, honest and charming - of course, he was also FAIRLY LOUD a lot of the time, and could be a bit dramatic (lol he sulked whenever he was upset) but mostly he was a good kid. HE EVEN GOT PROM KING, SENIOR YEAR.
The very last day of his freshman year in high school, he asked out Eleanor Andrews, whom he'd sort of been talking about ~forever~ (Alex? ABSOLUTE HARDCORE ROMANTIC, and added to his dramatic tendencies, he definitely annoyed people by the end of that year). They dated up until he turned eighteen, and Ellie found out he was Paris, because, SHOCKER, she was Helen. :(
It's been two years since then. Alex spent most of the first year trying to convince El she was being unreasonable, or at least trying to be friends. She eventually told him, to his face, that she wanted to be left alone. Never one to deny Eleanor anything, Alex has complied with this wish. To an extent. He reads anything she writes obsessively, and pretty much goes crazy if he hasn't heard anything about her for a week or so ("crazy" here being worried and freaking out in his dorm room). He's been a complete emotional wreck for a while now, and while girls (and the occasional guy) frequently hit on him, they quickly go away once he starts talking about Eleanor.
Alex is fairly involved with the reincarnate community, if only because he has the chance of hearing about Ellie. He does stay away from Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite, however, as well as anyone who seems to be a bit mad about the whole Trojan war. Alex is not stupid, and he also does not really want to be drawn into anything further regarding something he did not actually have anything to do with (since he, you know, doesn't remember any of that). HE'S GOING TO LAW SCHOOL, btw.
Also, his entire reaction to being a reincarnate? "...Okay then." IT DIDN'T BUG HIM OR SEEM IMPORTANT UNTIL ELEANOR FLIPPED OUT. Alex doesn't remember jack shit about Paris, so...
...we all know I can't be brief, okay. ANYWAY. PLOTS AND STUFF ARE COOL.
