John showed up without a plan. Rodney inadvertently gave him an opening. Or maybe not inadvertently.
When people are "performing" a bdsm scene, there are many layers, and it's the ones we don't pay attention to that may be really working for us. In my story, Rodney started doing bdsm scenes with John for the hot sex, but it was much more than that for both of them. It was about trust.
So I thought it might be interesting for John to use a bdsm scene to make a point about trust to Rodney. And yep it risked their entire relationship. My ending doesn't allow for a return to bdsm play any time soon, I think. It also doesn't guarantee that Rodney won't wake up in the morning royally pissed off.
