Public Speech; Broadcasted
I was born to a very wealthy family. When I hit puberty, my powers started to show. They tried to hide the fact that I was a mutant but weren't able to. They disowned me and had our driver bring me out past state lines and leave me there with nothing but the designer clothes on my back.
I learned how the other half lived. No, not half. How the majority lived. Struggling to eat. Nowhere to sleep. I was on the streets, forced to steal anything I wanted because I was too young to work and had no access to my records. I was a homeless mutant latina teenager with no family, no money, no friends. Nothing.
That's when I found refuge in the Brotherhood. They collected outcasted mutants and provided us with shelter and a new family. I devoted myself to them and the cause, trying to save any mutants like me. When I came to the city and met my Mr. Stark, we weren't on good terms. He caught me stealing for survival and he thought I was a criminal, not understanding what it's like to be on the streets. He didn't understand, just like I didn't. Not until I lived it.
When I was 16, I joined the Junior Avengers after realizing that the issues in Stepford were more than just Mutant vs Human. It was poor vs rich. People in power who don't understand what it's like to struggle continued to abuse people who have nowhere to run. I fought people like that. I took down human trafficking rings, freed enslaved people, fought indiscriminately for equality at every opportunity.
This is my official resignation from the Junior Avengers team. We have over 40 superheroes in this city devoted to fighting crime and those numbers keep growing meanwhile the number of homeless and starving people in this town grows. Crime will never go down until we change the policies that keep us as a people down.
The billionaires of this town get bonuses every year while single working people get taxed unsustainably. My father, Tony Stark, has donated his 1 billion dollar bonus this year to fund my campaign. I will not be taking any corporate donations because my platform is against the interest of the billionaires who run them. It's time for us to undo what Ianhalder did. We need accountability for our richest and most powerful people. We need checks and balances for the Avengers and the police. We need livable shelters for our poor. We need to protect this town.
My fight for this town is just beginning, and I need your help to win.
