Narrative
[Miguel is crossing the forest to save Naz. He needs to get her away from Dobromir, then he'll leave again. Back to Dark City where nothing matters. He sends a text to Malcolm to kill Dobromir in case he doesn't get there in time, but the network is still unavailable. He drops the tablet, it's not going to work out here.
He follows the path that he always takes, but there's a wall blocking him from the city. This can't be real. He grabs hold of the wall and tries to climb it but gets electrocuted by the security system that Connor Reddington installed to deter his kids from escaping. He falls off, holding himself screaming and crying. His hands burn and his whole body aches. He screams so loud that he's sure that everyone in Stepford and Dark City can hear him. So loud that the birds and deer and grievers should scamper away. So loud that it cuts into his brain like a dagger... until he realizes he's not making a sound at all. He's just holding himself on the ground. Alone. Tears careen down his cheeks and onto the ground below him, but even his sniffles are quiet.
He lost it all again and he has nobody else to blame. He lost Manny, Malcolm, Ari, Naz, Pat, Mika, Lily, Beck, Jade, Jess, Sarah, Sara, Karen, Jimmy, Catalina, both versions of the baby... everyone who ever mattered is gone and it's all his fault. Shakily, Miguel gets back to his feet and takes out his knife, stabbing into the wall about 60 times or until the blade breaks off entirely, he lost count, but the bladeless handle rests in his clenched fist. He drops it, and looks up at the physical wall in front of him, only seeing the metaphorical wall he built. The one that kept him safe from feeling the love of everyone who forced themselves into his life. It's fortified and electrified and too tall to climb. It can't be moved. He backs away from it and sprints back into the woods, deeper than he's ever gone. Not a path Dark City, not a path to Stepford, a path to complete solitude. He grabs at his sweater, ripping it off over his head and shoves his face into it to muffle his now-audible cries but nobody can hear them.
