Sorin made no comment when Tanek said Sara's cookies were good. They never turned out quite right when Sara baked. She added too much salt, she used baking powder instead of baking powder, too little flour, too much flour. He was glad that Tanek didn't seem to mind, but didn't help himself to one of the cookies.
His smile fell when he got a good look at the picture. It was horrifying, to say the least. Every one of the children who had been trapped in there would have the same response to the picture. Sorin picked it up and turned it face down so he didn't have to see. His saddened shadowed eyes looked at Tanek and he put an arm around him, hugging him to his side.
"Tanek," Sorin began softly. "Do you think going back and ending it will make the nightmares stop?"
