Bayani also didn't believe or trust a single word out of James' mouth. He was warned enough by other people, and he could already tell from that overly polite attitude, and his obsession with image, that there was plenty unsaid. It was just more reason not to deal with it. He wasn't in this school to make enemies, but he would make a dangerous one if someone tried. There was no need for it. As long as James didn't fuck with him or his people, they could keep coexisting without trouble. But that didn't mean Bay would forget the warnings. Nope.
"No apology necessary, it was a reasonable, if inaccurate, assumption." Bayani got up as well, but not out of politeness this time. Instead he fully planned on going back to the library, made obvious by him collecting his book. There was no need for being in the cafeteria most of the time, so it wasn't a place he frequented. And he didn't think it was the type of location that would have the quiet he was looking for. "You're welcome." He was trying to remember what the right thing to say was. Awkward small talk did not suit him. "Have a nice summer." That was what people said. He heard it a lot around the halls. He planned on staying on campus with the rest of his people.
With a firm nod in James direction in farewell, he headed out of the cafeteria to go back to the library. Long goodbyes wasn't his thing. He just hoped that was the end of it for now, but being a natural pessimist, he was skeptical.
