The sound of Ellie crying broke Sorin's heart. He was furious with Bayani for doing this. Why? What was he doing? Was he trying to burn his bridges with them? To get rid of them? Was he trying to leave them behind because they were holding him back? Was this Victoria's influence? Bayani had sworn a blood oath like the rest of them. Vampire or not, blood was stronger. Their years of experience in that castle was stronger and more meaningful than a new girlfriend.
Sorin would talk to Bayani. Oh yes, he would talk to Bayani. If this was what he wanted, to hurt them all one by one, then he would talk to Bayani until he was absolutely clear. And this time it would not be easily settled or forgotten with sex.
Later, when Ellie wasn't sobbing against his chest, Sorin would think much more clearly and want to know Bayani's reasoning for hurting their Ellie. He'd let Bayani say his piece. But right now Sorin's only concern was picking up the mess Bayani left, as usual. He would make sure Ellie was comforted and knew she was loved.
Cradling her head against his chest, Sorin held her tightly, stroking her back, kissing the top of her deep red head. "Is okay, Ellie. You are not selfish." He didn't know what they had talked about, but he knew that much. Ellie wasn't selfish. Not intentionally, at least. She had the best intentions, especially for the Anton group. She loved them all. "Bayani has a lot going on right now with his-- with Victoria." Sorin would give Bayani that much leeway, at least. "If he called you selfish, he did not mean it."
