Claire was nice to Teddy, and he liked her. It meant a lot to him that she had learned the rumblings of ASL and was attempting to communicate with him in that as much as she did with words. It made him feel happy that she was taking the time to learn about something that was important to him. He didn't know her that well, so the fact that she'd made the choice to do that did make him feel special.
He sat down next to her after she'd patted the bench, smiling as she signed 'Hi' and 'Thank you' which was something that he knew she knew well so he offered her a beaming smile and a thumbs up in encouragement because her signing was getting clearer the more she did.
"I'm alright," he answered with a slight sigh and shook his head a bit, "I just hate sports." It was said with a second, more exaggerated sigh this time. He wasn't sporty like his brothers or most of his peers. He was definitely a book nerd. "You need to make sure that you take the time to get better though, and don't push yourself."
He shrugged, "You did an awesome thing so it's okay to need to take the time to heal after that."
