Thread: Welcome to the Four Seasons WHO: Open to ALL! (tag yourself in) WHERE: The School Ballroom WHEN: Friday the 22th
Compared to last year, the ballroom seemed bare. The black tiles of the floor were shiny, gleaming. In the middle, what was to be the the dancefloor was delineated by four large vases in the corners, seemingly empty. In the middle there was an old-fashioned fountain, which wasn't currently running. There were spotlights. Against the walls, there were long tables, which were to be filled with drinks and snacks for the students. The punch bowl would probably be spiked. Ms. Menides couldn't resist: she took a peek in the future. She gave a tiny grin. Yes, it would be.
Every hour and a half the room would change, the music reflecting the themes. Students were advised to dress in white.
The first round would be for Spring. The vases would sprout large stalks, reaching for the ceiling, laden with flowers: red roses, blue orchids, pink poppies, purple daisies, bright dandelions. The lightning would be green and yellow. Fresh. The decorations hanging from the ceiling would turn to flowers and clouds. The fountain would become a cheerful one. tinkling with water. The drinks would sprout brightly coloured umbrellas. Origami birds made of colorful paper flew around. They could land on people's hands and could be used to deliver messages to others.
Second would be Summer, where the lighting would turn more orange, red and yellow, while the decoration would turn to suns and sparkles. The drinks would now have pink plastic flamingos in them, while the fountain would overload into a full-on sprinkler. Palms would replace the giant flowers. Now, the fancy snacks would be served: chicken wings and grilled vegetables on sticks, sushi and won-tons, fancy hors d'oeuvres.
With Autumn, the lighting would turn red and bronze, while the palms would be replaced with genuine trees, their leaves red and coppery. Machines would fill the floor with fog, while a wind would gradually strip the trees of their leaves, letting them twirl about. The fountain would become a regular fountain again. This was when you could have your picture taken, appropriately windblown. The drinks would boast umbrellas again, this time somberly colored. Above the dancefloor, floating candles would cast interesting shadows on the dance-floor, their flames unaffected by the wind.
When Winter would arrive, the trees would be bare of their trees and would frost over. Icicles would decorate the room, together with intricate snowflakes hanging from the ceiling. Snow would line the walls, while the fountain would freeze over. The drinks would finally boast icecubes. The lighting would turn to blue and blacklight, whole of course, some would be overjoyed to find that the snow could be used for snowmen. And snowballs. The teachers would probably be glad to use the snowball-fights as an excuse to send students to their beds.
