Thread: Interview With A...
WHO: Mr. Cavanaugh and James Weatherby
WHEN: Dec. 19th 7am sharp
WHERE: Mr. Cavanaugh's office, Sphinx Dorm
James' light blue shirt and tie was covered by a darker navy knit sweater and, over that, the usual sight of his wool peacoat, and finally, the red scarf that he'd started to wear on a regular basis. He removed his coat when he entered Sphinx House, light snow dusting the scarf he pulled off and hung on the post. For most, it was an ungodly hour of the morning, that precious time where alarms would be going off and snooze buttons hit and students and staff members rolling back over for another five minutes of sleep. But not for James, who no longer slept, and not, apparently, for Mr. Jack Cavanaugh.
James had a few vague guesses about what this meeting could be about. The threat of detention in their brief conversation on the network had been warning enough that it was nothing pleasant. What a way to start the last day of classes before winter break kicked in. James only hoped his plans for dinner later when the school gathered and Andrei and Leon came forth from the dungeons would not be inconvenienced.
If he were being completely honest, considering it was the Head of Sphinx who was requesting his presence, James knew that this was about the little gift delivered to Benjamin. James had been making Benjamin sweat for weeks. He knew the other fangling would be waiting for some kind of retaliation for his excessively flappy tongue on the matter of Leon Drumm and a janitor closet. James had every reason to believe, especially now, that Ben had not stopped at telling just Andrei, but had blabbed the word to anyone willing to listen on what had happened and James' involvement. It was perfect. Though Leon hadn't, himself, come forward to confront James, the Weatherby heir was anticipating that, too.
James had been making connections throughout the school, and money talked. Hard to get items were not so hard to get when one had a network like James did both in and outside of the school. People did things for him to be in his good graces, and James rewarded them. One of the things someone had done for him was retrieve the voodoo doll of Benjamin Proctor that Leon had made before he was turned into a vampire. It was found, stolen more accurately, and delivered to James who had been quite pleased. He'd put it to use in the most creative and symbolic way he could think of, and, luckily or unluckily for Benjamin Proctor, the doll had not been active with voodoo magic. The little rat was still walking and talking, two of the only things he did well, James thought with a small sneer before coming to a stop at Mr. Cavanaugh's office door.
He knocked and stood quietly.
