Thread: Vampires
Who: Bert McColl, Ben Proctor
Where: Ben's dungeon
When: Friday after classes
Ever since hearing about the incident of Ben biting Leon, Bert had given the situation a lot of thought. He himself had once been a young vampire and a student at St. Margaret's. He couldn't say the situation was unfamiliar to him. He understood the temptation that the living posed to their kind. He thought he could relate to what Ben was going through. He even wondered if he could help him. It had been a large reason for him to come back to St. Margaret's to teach, to be able to connect with his own kind and perhaps even mentor them. So far, he'd had mixed success with mentoring, but he supposed he understood that too. Teenagers wanted independence, wanted freedom. They oftentimes didn't want advice or guidance, even wham they needed it.
Bert had no clue how Ben would receive him. They barely knew one another, Bert not having him in any of his classes. He'd made the effort to at least introduce himself to the vampire students, but a lot of them hadn't talked to him since. From what little Bert knew of Ben, the fledgling seemed quiet, reserved, kept to himself most of the time. The teacher had to wonder what had possessed Ben to do what he'd done. The school provided the vampires with blood, though it wasn't fresh from a warm body. If Ben had really needed to feed, there was much better ways to have gone about it. Unless this hadn't been about feeding and had been an act of aggression. Bert wanted to know which it was. He'd learned from long life experience that vampires who were aggressive and impulsive didn't live long. Though he didn't know Ben, Bert didn't want anything bad to happen to him.
After classes were finished and Bert had tidied up his classroom and office space, he made his way to the dungeon where Ben was staying for a couple of weeks. The dungeon wasn't quite as awful place as the name implied, but it was still not a pleasant place to be by one's self for a couple weeks. Ben was allowed out for class, but was otherwise in the dungeon space for his meals and all his free time. His room had a bed and desk and some books and not much else, very bare bones. He wasn't locked in, but magic surrounded the area and no one could go in or out without the Headmistress knowing. As for Bert, he had informed her of his intentions beforehand.
Bert knocked on the door, not just barging in, wanting to allow Ben for some privacy in case he wasn't decent. "Ben? It's Mr. McColl", he called out in his very non-teacher sounding voice.
