Who: Daniel Dyami and Open
When: Nov 7th
Where: lunchroom
NPCs: students, Michael Dyami (Daniel's father, phone)
At lunchtime, Daniel found a small round table beside the window and sat facing it, looking out at the grounds, the view bringing memories back of the full moon the night before. He was picking at his lunch, not because he wasn't hungry, but because he was on the phone, holding it up to his ear with his left arm, which was much less sore today than his right. He couldn't wait any longer to call his dad and tell him of all the wonders of the previous night.
Daniel's tone was more lively and animated than had probably ever been heard by any of his peers. He was smiling frequently as he told his father of his experiences. He assured his father that he was fine, his right arm only a little sore from the changes to and from golden eagle and the night of frequent flight on his wings. It had felt wonderful, liberating, to take flight again, to become the eagle for a night. He had kept to the rules, not going to the ground, not engaging any of the other weres, or any of the other creatures out last night. And what creatures! This was what had surprised and intrigued Daniel.
He'd been spending a while spotting, watching and observing the weres. Most were wolves, and Daniel had much to say of them to his father too, being generally unimpressed with the "dumb dogs", as he called them to his dad. It was difficult now to imagine them having been a serious threat to his tribe way back in the past. There were other kinds of weres too, Mr. Kaden the bear, of course, and large cats, and his friend Sara the fox.
He'd been looking for Sara the fox when he'd spotted the first creature that had been unknown to him. At first, he thought maybe it was Sara. He seemed to be seeing a white fox, but it was much larger than a fox, and it's tail... he wasn't sure what he was seeing at first, the creature appeared to have two tails. There was something off about it, after watching for a little while, Daniel began to wonder what it was, if not a were.
A little while later, he spotted a very tiny human with wings. The being was dressed peculiarly, almost tribally, and was hovering over some wildflowers, doing something, but Daniel wasn't sure what. He swooped down for a closer look and realized he looked familiar, was in his house. The boy didn't recognize Daniel, of course, and looked quite frightened of the large predator flying in closer, and smartly headed right back to Ladon house right away.
Daniel told his father all of these stories, as well as the red fox he saw with four tails. His interest was piqued and he was very interested to figure out just what these creatures were. It seemed that in one night, Daniel's suspicions and ambivilance about the school had melted away. Realizing he didn't have much lunch time left, Daniel said goodbye to his father for now, promising to call over the weekend and talk about plans to visit for the upcoming holidays Thanksgiving in a few weeks and Christmas the next month. When Daniel hung up the phone, he suddenly got the feeling someone was nearby. Had they been listening, hearing what he'd seen, hearing him talk about himself? Feeling suspicious, Daniel whirled around in his chair to see who was there.
