Thread: I See You
WHO: Kana and Celebrimbor
WHEN: Shortly following THIS.
WHERE: Beneath the castle
Ashton had known all along that he would need help with his gold addiction. Dallas was only partially trustworthy, having tried to take his gold before to near gruesome consequences, and Ashton had only a wary understanding with the half-demon. Trust, to the dragon, meant more than words, but actions too. Barclay had proven by word and by actions that he was trustworthy - even if he did mock and belittle the very thing Ashton held most dear to his heart. The druid had helped him time and time again and throughout, had kept Ashton's identity as the dragon who had stopped the wave of ice wights from tearing down the school a secret. Emily, too, in her strange ways and utter lack of fear or self-preservation, was trustworthy. She had helped him by suggesting the concealer that would hide the dragon marks. She had also kept his secret, and Ashton was relieved, since the girl seemed to enjoy talking quite a bit. It had become endearing, sometimes, and other times Ashton wondered if she'd ever stop. The amount of new information she threw at him was overwhelming at times.
Ashton trusted Ms. Menides. He trusted, for the most part, Mr. Cavanaugh. The dragon was still considering Ms. Hallowfen. But on the outskirts of Ashton's small circle of friends was Kana, the girl with the strange fire talents that he didn't understand, but sympathized with. He had been pleased to meet a fellow creator of flame, but had held himself in reserve from pursuing more of his questions in hopes she would hold herself in reserve from doing the same to him. Now, however, they both were in need of help.
Dallas wanted him to give his own gold, from his own hoard, over to one of his close friends and Ashton knew without trying it that he would lose control. He would transform and incinerate the thief, friend or foe, and it would be much worse than what he'd done to Trent. But if his fire couldn't hurt this friend, because she were already a master of the flame, then perhaps... Perhaps he could learn from willingly giving up a piece of his own gold after all, without losing a friend.
The first hurtle that Ashton faced in this endeavor was trusting Kana enough to reveal his true form in the hopes that she would, for starters, not be too afraid and run from him, but also to see if she would keep this secret. After which, he would hope, she would let him be the keeper of hers. He needed to know if she could withstand dragonfire. He was taking a calculated risk and had not arrived at this decision lightly, but if it went bad, despite all of that, and Kana ran screaming from the cavern, then the talk would only be that there was a dragon under the castle, at the worst.
Celebrimbor Helyanwë, Bright Darkness, laid in wait of the girl's arrival, hidden in the shadows with his ebony scales drinking in what little light filtered through. The glowing moss he and Barclay sometimes harvested set off a blue light to the area, but Kana would need a flash light - or fire - to see her way down to this last cavern before the large heavy iron gate that blocked the rest of the way into the catacombs.
